    Legionnaires' Temperature Kit

Legionnaires disease is only an issue when water is stored for long periods, this isn’t an issue in a domestic environment as water is regularly replenished.

    Drayton Wiser 2nd generation Hubr

I have had my Wiser system for three winters and have been reasonably happy with how it has performed. There are issues but I have either found workarounds of have just accepted them. Drayton have recently released to the UK the v2 hubr so I have "upgraded" my v1 to the v2 but as there is yet...

    Smart meters - good choice?

My experiences have been discussed before but in summary having a smart meter has enabled me to be on the Octopus tracker tariff which last year saved me a ton of cash in energy costs compared to the previous year when I was on the standard capped tariff.

    Rad always hot

The Wiser system has all TRV’s talking to the hub but now there is a v2 hub available that can talk to a simple and relatively inexpensive room thermostat which works in conjunction with the TRV.

Leak from Hot Water Cylinder Discharge Pipe into Toilet Waste – Advice Needed

Unfortunately you appear to have come across one of those tradespeople who shouldn’t be in business.

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

It’s probably just modulating down as it doesn’t need to provide maximum heat. My rubbish Worcester Bosch is the same, it rarely gets to the set flow of 65c and generally stays below 55c.

Need a smart thermostat for Vaillant boiler

Buy Vaillant controls, 3rd party controls are inferior when used with a Vaillant boiler.

    What is a "suitable meter"?

All I have found is Octopus Compare by M4 Consulting Ltd for IOS. It has promise but is a bit slow to update with tariff changes and only appears to work with electricity tariffs.

    What is a "suitable meter"?

At the moment most UK energy bills when based on the capped rate are a rip off, it’s the way the energy is priced that is the issue. I am with Octopus and have been since late 2021 so I can compare my bills , at first I was on the capped tariff but I have been on the tracker tariff since Jan...

    What is a "suitable meter"?

I did. The first year of having a smart meter saved me about £800 in energy cost despite using slightly more energy, due to having a smart tariff which is not available unless you have a smart meter.

    Honeywell ST699 to Hive issues

Ok, so did the electrician take a photo before they removed it?

    Honeywell ST699 to Hive issues

Could be wired incorrectly, can you post a photo of the Hive wiring and did you take a photo of the Honeywell wiring before you removed it.

System boiler recommendations (hot water priority ~5kW heatloss)

Unfortunately there are some BUS grant harvesters out there who just add the grant money to the quote by inflating their prices. This is an ongoing problem whenever the government offers grants for anything but is compounded my the MCS monopoly.

System boiler recommendations (hot water priority ~5kW heatloss)

Panasonic heat pumps seem to get good reviews online and are one of the cheaper heat pumps. Maybe you could buy the heat pump and then pay a plumber and electrician to do the installation, forget about the BUS grant.

System boiler recommendations (hot water priority ~5kW heatloss)

What about a Vokera Pinnacle S, I think they modulate very low.

Off-peak tariff, does it really save money?

I heard of a few people moving off the tracker tariff last month but regretted it and were able to switch back onto the tariff immediately, according to the T&C’s there should be a 9 month wait.

How much does control methods change the fuel used in central heating?

From what I recall of your heating controls I think you have too little consistency and too much conflict. If it was me I would just go with one control system, like Wiser, and use a mix of Wiser TRV’s in the most often used rooms and conventional TRV’s everywhere else. If you need more accurate...

    Ideal Boilers

It’s a mine field choosing a boiler. Every boiler has its promoters and detractors, what one person says is great another says is terrible!

How much does control methods change the fuel used in central heating?

In my case I have a conventionally designed 2 story house, by conventional I mean it is roughly square. Originally the heating temperature was controlled by a mechanical bi-metallic thermostat that overshot and undershot all the time causing roughly 4c swings in temperature. This wasnt...
