    Funniest Bodge Ever?

Growing up I saw a lot of kind people leaving their numbers on public toilet doors wishing to offer people a good time. It really cheered me up knowing people like that were out there.

    Loft conversion advise

+1 I originally was going to try something similar, after researching and realising the many different building regs it pretty much killed the plan before it even started. The hardest one for me to get around was achieving the correct height above the staircase that was to be used for access.

Is it ok to run POE Cat6 runs with standard Cat6 runs...

I second this 100%, Currently coming to the end of my full house renovation and I've got 26 cat6 drops throughout the house all run in conduit and completely serviceable, so glad I decided to put in the extra time/work for this.

Having the removal of the wall and installation of the RSJ done by professionals I would like to think it was all done above board.

    Ceiling cracking after wall removed

I'm assuming its a steel beam underneath the plasterboard? if so there's no way that would be failing due to the bathroom renovation. I dare say its just the plasterboard settling due to the weight shift above and possible vibration from the works. Those watermarks would be of more concern to...

Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood Paint very sticky and easily peel off

Firstly, I've just remembered I've used the Dulux Trade variant. That said, if you look on the Screwfix reviews there are many people describing the same issues you are having with the trade version also. Prep wise I've used the trade quick dry undercoat on some surfaces that were previously...

Thankyou for all the feedback everyone its much appreciated! I opted for some M8 x 100mm frame fixings and washers to suit. Its feeling very solid possibly even more so than it would with the L brackets :) I should have mentioned there was still 5mm of service void left but I added a 5mm...

    Patio damp threshold dramas

They have either installed the door itself incorrectly and water is backing Into the house or it required a DPC because they must have taken out the existing DPC when making the opening for the door. As it's running the full length of the door and pretty evenly I would suggest it's a DPC issue.

Attaching modified kitchen base units to wall....

Hey Everyone, Currently fitting my recently delivered Howdens kitchen, in order for it to work down one side of the kitchen I have had to remove the service void (60mm) from all base units, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to attach these to the newly dot and dabbed walls. I'm...

Best finish for around Windows > New plaster

Hey Everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone can weigh in what would be the best finish to tidy up the transition between the interior window frame and newly plastered and painted walls. I'm guessing the options are Silicone or Caulk, I'm just not sure which one to go for. Thanks, as always any...

    Leaking brickwork

I would suggest getting up there with a ladder and checking the seal along the top of the window on the exterior, if its silicone it might have perished, if its mortar it might have cracked/fallen out.

What support needed for floor under bricked up fireplace?

Hi Alan, From the photos it looks like the fireplace was bricked up with the first course supported on the Hearth, the hearth has since deteriorated which has caused the slump. If it were me I would clear out all the loose under the bricks that now look to be hovering, then I would do a bit of...
