Plaster Board in front of brick fireplace. TV hanging ?

If its not obvious already definitely go through to the brick. Unpopular opinion but I much prefer to see TVs wall mounted even if they are a little high, always end up losing valuable space having them in a corner or on a stand/table and they look pants imho.

    Quick Toilet Pan connector question...

Hey everyone, Super quick question, can I use a regular 110mm 90 bend directly connected to the toilet pan or do I have to use one of the actual toilet pan connectors that have a much larger rubber seal on them? I ask because I have a regular 110mm 90 spare and it creates the perfect distance...

    First Home Progress Thread

Great progress, the amount of carnage caused by stripping walls back to brick looks very familiar to me now.

    Full DIY House Renovation...

Thanks for the interest it's much appreciated. Regarding the pebbledash, short term it is just getting painted, long term will be redoing in K-rend or similar. I'm a 3d Character Animator, quite the contrast from any of the work I've been doing here.

    Full DIY House Renovation...

Didn't think at the time it needed to go beyond the wall as it's no more (or less) than it would be sat onto the external walls.

    Full DIY House Renovation...

Thanks for the kind words, yes a compliant loft conversion was very much a consideration I did alot of research and got alot of input on the idea aswell. Because of the nested roof (what I believe it's called) the loft floor beams don't sit on a wall plate and instead are just fixed to the roof...

    Hideous noise when running water..

Seems a little overly cautious I think especially if your insurance doesn't cover it and you have to fork out for a plumber to do the swap, it's literally one connection, just sit by it for 5 minutes after swapping it out, if it doesn't leak then it's golden.

    Full DIY House Renovation...

Haha I find the taste mild but the smell quite fishy. Thanks for the heads up on access, the access hatch under the fridge will allow access to the whole underfloor void downstairs :)

    Hideous noise when running water..

Had the same problem at my parents, was a worn float valve as linked above. It was vibrating causing the noise. Easy as pie to swap out just make sure water is turned off then it's pretty much just unscrewing the connection into the valve and then unscrewing the nuts that clamp the valve to...

    New soil stack layout question....

Photo for closure, I managed to just about fit a restbend in, I believe the finished driveway will cover it (when I get around to it) hope it looks ok!

    New soil stack layout question....

Haha yes I plan on finishing it, I'm swapping the waste and rainwater around so the waste will vent where the old rainwater used to be (with new pipe) and a new rainwater will be added around the corner with all the old stuff removed. The current situation is just temporary for now. I do have...

    Exterior, pumped and interior insulation

Currently undergoing a full house renovation myself, having removed all the old plaster and dot and dabbed 38mm insulated PIR board the difference it has made already is obvious.

    New soil stack layout question....

For closure I just want to post up photos of what I opted for in the end. Went for 40mm for both basin and bath/shower bossed into the main soil run from the toilet. Thanks again to everyone for their input, its much appreciated.

Loft Conversion - New Joists unable to sit on wall plate.

Personally I gave up on the idea, had BC round and they said the only feasible way would be to run an RSJ right across the length both sides, which would likely require as above stated converting into a gable for access to loft space to meet regs. For the cost you would be better off sticking...

    New soil stack layout question....

Hmm yeah doing it this way means the basin will be over 3m now you mention it, I could just run 40mm right through I suppose. Thanks for the heads up about the long radius :) The only problem with doing away with the 45 would mean I wouldn't have enough room above the pipe to boss into it. The...
