    Concrete slab above dpc

Just to check we're talking about the same thing; You don't want to be sealing the gap between the floor and the wall. It's far better off being left as a void, which is where the PIR comes in - it will create a capillary break to prevent moisture being able to bypass the dpc. Moisture might...

    Concrete coarse aggregate size

I'd be more concerned with where they came from and possible contamination or sulphate. But then, I suppose it's been there a long time with no issues?

    Finding the right roofing slates

ebay or local reclamation yard would be your best bet, calling into the local gun shop on the way home.

    Concrete slab above dpc

Chip away but don't fill with anything, leave a capillary gap of some description. A slip of PIR insulation with a groove cut in it (the groove bridging the dpc) would be perfect.

Flat Roof Span 5.4m Joist Sizing

I specify them a lot and builders usually call and say; is it ok if we use 8x4s instead? to which I say no. Next job with the same builder they usually say; can we have those metal joists again. Once you go posi, you'll never go back.

    Do I need a windpost.

A 400 wide brick pier has very little lateral strength on its own. It would be highly vulnerable to cracking somewhere near the base and would then be a significant hazard. My advice would be to epoxy one or two threaded bars into the base, build the pier around and a couple of courses from the...

I don't watch football but this has been all over the media, so hard to miss. A player deliberately stepping on an opposition player because they didn't get their own way is a bit like a child having a temper tantrum, with the exception that the women is not 8 years old. It is slightly...

    New Car

Me neither, ordinarily, and I looked at several alternatives around the 8 or 9 months mark. But I got trapped into the deal. Car prices rocketed making my deal look cheap. I paid £33,200 - the book price now is £42k. Fortunately, the one that's just gone was a very good car - just 5 and a half...

I ordered a new car on 21st November 2021. (VW) It's supposed to be delivered next week. I hope it is as the old car was sold last night.

Spirit levels - the choices arrh!

You're over-thinking it. It just means a professional will get a better result from a basic tool than most amateurs. A pro photographer will most likely get a better photograph from a basic point and shoot camera. Not always, just on average.

Mineral wool insulation - loft conversion

No vapour control needed. The rooms may not be the same temperature all the time but they will be environmentally stable in terms of vapour pressure and condensation risk.

I should imagine AndyJay has gone for a lie down? When you do recover, this will do what you need: https://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-box-beam-level-47-1-4-1200mm-/6252v Like all spirit levels, check the bubble when you get it and every now and then depending on how much and what type of use.

Mineral wool insulation - loft conversion

There's no heat loss between heated rooms. The insulation in floor voids is there for acoustic purposes.

    Crack to extension

I wouldn't say anything to worry about structurally, in that the house isn't going to fall down, but it's not ideal and is the sort of thing that can be a hassle when selling. The main structure has slipped across the dpc. It's not a common fault but it does happen. There are lots of possible...
