Complexity to replace 5 ball valves?

Thanks, I will buy them. Any particular make/model? I believe I need 1 x 15mm 1 x 22mm 2x 28mm (one located behind the cylinder) Plus there's one that is 15mm (looks like the top of a garden tap, not sure on name!) with I may as well replace for peace of mind...

Complexity to replace 5 ball valves?

The one supplying the shower (cold) is broken and stuck on closed. Not sure I fancy that.

Complexity to replace 5 ball valves?

New boiler, pumps, valves and HW cylinder + MagnaCleanse Flush and filters

Complexity to replace 5 ball valves?

Because for the job they are doing, the online boiler outfits (heatable, box, iHeat) are all £800+ cheaper our than local fitters. It also allows us to take advantage of interest free repayments which local fitters don't offer.

Complexity to replace 5 ball valves?

We've got one of these online boiler companies coming to fit a new boiler and hot water cylinder. They won't consider any other work (I have asked) but they all work with subcontracted engineers and I am hoping when they arrive I can offer cash in hand for all 5 of our gate valves to be replaced...

    What size heat-only boiler?

Thank you. Is there any benefit in 25KW vs 18KW - they are the same cost but I was thinking 18KW will be more efficient.

    What size heat-only boiler?

Our water flow is 12L/Min & 2 Bar - not enough for a vented system I have been told and borderline for a combi.

    What size heat-only boiler?

We can get a 418 Eco Fit pure. Is yours an open system?

    What size heat-only boiler?

Minimum is 20L/Min for unvented and 10L/Min for combi. May not be ideal though, I agree.

    What size heat-only boiler?

Unfortunately our flow is 12L/Min which rules out an unvented system unless we pay for accumulators etc which is almost doubling our quotes. So we can either stick with unvented and get a new standard boiler + cylinder + shower pumps or switch to a combi....

    What size heat-only boiler?

14KW I believe (Glow Worm 50BR MKII - 1977). It's fine I guess, the house can get to temp when desired but can sometimes feel like it takes a while (usually wake up at around 15/16 degrees in winter and get it to 18/19 in a couple of hours). We tend to just boost for a few hours a day when cold.

    What size heat-only boiler?

It's a Glowworm Space Saver MKII - I believe it's Max output is 14.65KW looking at the Manual. And Max input 19KW

    What size heat-only boiler?

We paid someone to do it so I assume it's decent. They say "your maximum heat requirement on a very cold day (-4.6°C outside) is approx. 8kW" but this would be undersized according to every quote we've had.

    What size heat-only boiler?

Finally decided to replace our non-condensing boiler and decided to stick with a standard heat-only boiler and maybe get a new hot water cylinder with it. The question we now have is what size to get? We are 4 Bed Detached with 13 Rads (old & single panel). Our total heat loss is 7.76 kW and...

Rough costs to replace vented cylinder?

I’ve got a yellow Hercal cylinder that I am looking to upgrade it when we come to replace our aging boiler. Reasons being our immersion doesn’t work and I’d really like something with a quicker recovery and a bit more capacity. Roughly how much should we be budgeting for this work (ignoring the...

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

I believe this comes from the stored water in the loft so wouldn't have any effect?

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

Thanks, all bit above my head. I am a bit in the dark as to what I need in terms of bars and flow. I just want to know if getting a Combi will be feasible or a complete nightmare I should avoid at all costs. IF that meant the shower would drop from 10L/min to 6-8L/min when someone brushed their...

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

OK so I have opened 3 mains outlets, 2 x outside taps and 1 kitchen tap. *The pressure gauge is on one of the outside taps. It goes down further, to 1 Bar when all 3 are open. One thing I did notice is that our second outside tap (closer to the boundary) is much faster than the one I have been...

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

@Madrab I brought my own pressure gauge. It's 2.0 static and when I turn on the kitchen tap fully it's 1.4 - I guess this is the dynamic pressure? Is that good or bad or somewhere in between :)

    Gravity fed shower issues

Our neighbour reckons his gravity fed shower is great too. The only difference they have is that they have only 1 cold water tank whereas we have 2. I think they shut one off for some reason. They are very elderly and I assumed maybe they had a pump and didn’t realise but perhaps not …
