Converting to a combi - how likely are leaks?

More space and better water pressure for our showers - other than that, no reason.

Converting to a combi - how likely are leaks?

Just about to get a new boiler - current one is 1985, same age as the house. However I am reading horror stories of pipes leaking due to increased pressure. How likely is this on a 1980s property and is there anything I can do to mitigate this?

    Help choosing a boiler

Yeah they are expensive, but also cheaper (or in a few cases the same) as any in-person quotes we've had from local plumbers.

    Help choosing a boiler

Looking at these, anyone have any advice? Also as we are connecting it to 30 year old rads, I assume it's worth having a pro flush which both these outfits offer? 4 Bed house, 2 showers, 1 bath, 4 occupants. Set on a combi because we want the extra storage space given by removing the hot...

Hive / boiler not working after turning off mains

No reset button and the only thing I turned off was the mains and a pipe that feeds cold water from the loft to upstairs bathroom. Both are back on.

Hive / boiler not working after turning off mains

Turned the mains off for a small job and now the boiler won’t turn on. It’s a standard boiler from the 80s. Hive appears to be working fine but putting on water etc doesn’t kick start the boiler like it did. Any ideas?

Which way would this door frame go?

The frame is part of of package so you’d hope it’s sealed well.

Which way would this door frame go?

Sorry. The bar at the bottom has a raised lip. Wondering if this would be on the outside or inside? Outside looks better obviously but the seals catch everytime you open the door.

Which way would this door frame go?

Brought a cheap shower door from Amazon. Clearly Chinese as the instructions are absolutely abysmal. There is a lip on the frame at the top and bottom and I’ve no way of knowing which way this goes. Any ideas? Visually this looks correct but the seal is being knocked off when opening the door.

What walls are load bearing here?

The builders we’ve had quote all seem to think it’s not load bearing, that’s why I’m wondering where our load bearing walls are

What walls are load bearing here?

Hoists run from front to back. I’m thinking the wall running from side to side is load bearing but that only works for upstairs? Looking to knockout kitchen / dining wall if we buy this property.

    Washing machine not working...

Thanks but checked that - also direct at pump and it's all clear. So is water inlet. It's basically in a cycle of taking water for 10 seconds then draining for 10 seconds.

    Washing machine not working...

Beko washing machine - 9 years old. Model: ECOWMB81445LW_WH Turns on but has the sound of draining water, then it stops and whirs, then drains a bit mroe water, then stops and whirs. Does this for about 15 mins before saying "end". Any clues? It was a cheap machine so wondering if it's even...

Does boiler efficiency get worse over time?

Thank you - that is helpful to know, especially as we'd be looking nearer £4k.

Does boiler efficiency get worse over time?

Everything I have read suggests it's very unlikely a modern boiler actually runs at 90% efficiency. Firstly this efficiency is measured in lab conditions after a manufacturer install. 99% of boiler installations will not be that good and they lose between 10-25% of efficiency out of the box...

Does boiler efficiency get worse over time?

Yeah likewise, never really thought about it until this year, if I am cold I usually stick the heating on. I have come to realise anything under 16 is uncomfortable in our house; plus we have small(ish) children and I don't want them getting ill from a freezing home so we will look to keep at...
