How best to hide unused ceiling light cables

Yes i do, but i was hoping not to have to pull up the floorboards. Guess i will have to.. or just fit a ceiling rose with no pendant. Cheers for all the advice!

How best to hide unused ceiling light cables

There are only two cables, so it must be the last light in the circuit. Therefore not affecting any other fittings. As i've separated the cables only one of them is live i guess.

How best to hide unused ceiling light cables

yes, one cable runs to a switch (which is still there although i have disabled it). not sure which cable - tried pulling on switch cable, to no avail. Indeed the cables pass through a piece of wood above the plasterboard. i guess i would need to cut a fairly big hole in that to get a junction...

How best to hide unused ceiling light cables

thanks, but the problem is live cable is coming from another light rose somewhere. I've no idea which one precedes it in the circuit. even if i did, i doubt i'd be able to remove the cable without removing part of the ceiling! Ideally i need a workaround.

How best to hide unused ceiling light cables

I have removed a ceiling light that is no longer needed. However the cables are still sticking out of the ceiling. I thought about pushing them up into the ceiling and filling the hole, but, given that one of the wires will be permanently live, is this safe to do? If as i suspect it is not, what...

Poor combi boiler flow rate for hot water

Ok, i'll try to get someone to check it out. Apart from the obvious (yellow pages etc), any tips as to where i should look to get someone? I'm in London SE13.

Poor combi boiler flow rate for hot water

OK, thanks. Is it worth a try to change the HE first? Or should i just get someone in to look at it?

Poor combi boiler flow rate for hot water

Yeh, crazy isn't it! Thing is, i always figured it was just because the boiler was crap and that i would just make do until i could afford to get a new boiler. I was also not expecting to live here for so long. When i had it serviced, i did ask about the poor HW flow rate, but the technician...

Poor combi boiler flow rate for hot water

Hi guys I have a Potterton Performa 24, probably about 7/8 yrs old. Central heating has always been fine, but hot water has always been a problem. Even 5 yrs ago, when i moved in, if i opened the upstairs HW taps fully i would not get properly hot water. As such, I have always had to minimise...

how to remove a Potterton PRV

Thanks, that was certainly my case lol, tho i didn't hold it against the service guy as he seemed a decent bloke. He was also the one that told me i could change the PRV myself, so he saved me a few bob there! Tho it certainly wasn't as easy as he made out, but is it ever? lol. Anyway, for...

how to remove a Potterton PRV

Yeh, that is a good question. I did possibly overpressurise about a yr ago (when i had no clue about this stuff and perhaps overfilled). The guy who did the servicing couldn't seem to find any problem. I think he suspected the expansion vessel, but, as i said, testing concluded it was ok. My...

how to remove a Potterton PRV

No. The whole problem started after i had it serviced. Previously pressure had always been on the high side, i.e. over 3 bar! The guy tested everything (inc. expansion vessel) and concluded all was ok, but, after manually operating the PRV, it didn't re-seat properly and he suggested i change it.

how to remove a Potterton PRV

how to remove a Potterton PRV

ok, so i've emptied boiler, removed nut (figured grub screw will be easier to remove once i've got the PRV out). Am i right in thinking i need to unscrew a (tiny) allen key bolt, before i can pull out the PRV? If so it's bloody difficult to get to! Thanks again

how to remove a Potterton PRV

Hi guys I have a Performa 24 combi. I need to replace the PRV as it is leaking thru the external discharge pipe. I've bought the new part, but i'm not really sure what to unscrew in order to remove the old one. I've attached pics, one of the new part and one of the old. In the current assembly...
