Continuous Dry Verge - Any Concerns?

Hey guys, only asking as I don't seem to see many about. Really like the look of a continuous dry verge and I found this one that has decent reviews and lists compatibility with the tiles we're choosing between...

    Amateur DIY Extension

Concrete Sub Floor Not much to say here. I did video it, I think, so perhaps I'll edit it and pop it up one day but in short we poured a lot of concrete on top of the DPM! Decided to go for insulation over slab for no other real reason than I wanted the concrete in and worry about the rest...

Dry verge detail for flush lean to extension

Cheers guys, sounds like I'll just have to make it the best I can. Have to say, though, I agree with @23vc, I wouldn't go back and change it. Space was a real premium on this one, too.

Dry verge detail for flush lean to extension

Hey all, I'm up to roof height on my DIY extension. It's a small, single storey job with a lean to pitched roof. One thing I can't get straight in my head is the detail for the dry verge system on the edge that is flush with the original house. Obviously the dry verge will protude out past the...

    Suspended timber floor question

If they've never been replaced then it's likey you need to replace the joists. Our house is only a bit older than yours (30's) and both suspended floors were completely shot. We replaced like for like, with slightly bigger timbers and they're rock solid now. Took the opportunity to insulate...

    Amateur DIY Extension

Well, it's been a long time hasn't it....! Crikey - I actually thought I'd posted a bit more in this thread before hibernating so I'll have to go and drop up some photos and stuff. But, in short - we got the sub floor poured with no drama. Then came the block work and, honestly, it wasn't...

Cavity Wall & Full Fill Technique/Order

Thanks mate, that's properly helpful. Feel like I've finally got my head around what I need to do now! Doubt I'll actually go many courses higher on the outer, but I just wanted to understand the limitations.

Thanks mate, gonna go and get some packs later so didn't know if they'd have any guidance

Cavity Wall & Full Fill Technique/Order

Right, apologies for the endless questions! (This is where you realise how much you didn't learn on your bricklaying course, and why people hire builders ;) ) I've decided to switch to full fill insulation, can I just sanity check the technique: 1. Put a board or something down between the...

Maybe I had a bad day, but a little advice please on building over DPM + DPC

That's reassuring - I just spoke to Knauf (Which isn't pronounced how I thought!) and they say it's fine in rendered buildings. Will check with BCO, but sounds like the way forward.

Maybe I had a bad day, but a little advice please on building over DPM + DPC

Thanks mate, appreciate the vote of confidence! Got out for a few hours yesterday (Work and weather are KILLING this project, but that's life) and things went much better. Fresh day, dry blocks, maybe a stiffer mix and I had far more success. Got three corners up, and ran in the first course of...

Maybe I had a bad day, but a little advice please on building over DPM + DPC

Cheers Woody, and I'll have you know my walls are level to within a couple of mm all round ;) Now this is a good point - no, the blocks were definitely wet when I got them and it's rained a lot since. I've just gone and covered them so hopefully they'll dry up a bit by tomorrow.

Maybe I had a bad day, but a little advice please on building over DPM + DPC

Cheers Woody, appreciate you taking the time to respond. Are you saying the DPC joint should be 20mm in all (plus the little bit for the DPM?)

Maybe I had a bad day, but a little advice please on building over DPM + DPC

I'm hoping it was just an off day, but as tomorrow is rolling round thought I'd ask! Had my blocks delivered last weekend so decided to make a start on the inner corners and basically I failed miserably. I built it as: Block Mortar DPC Mortar DPM Mortar Brick And "ironed" the DPM and DPC...

Insulation Below DPC - Clearance from fill?

Something I didn't really think about when doing my lean mix fill was the gap between it and the insulation. I've got a row of wall ties below DPC, just about my lean fill. Literally 10mm or so in places. Apart from Celotex making it very clear it needs to be suspended above it, I can't find...
