You can use a lot of gas for the price of replacing that boiler. If it works and is reliable I'd keep it.

I thought it had to as it was controlling the heating coils. Time for the OP to upgrade I reckon.

I can see the cutout in the cylinder insulation where a normal stat would be? You do have a cylinder stat? I reckon that is your stat, never seen a rad TRV used like that.

Why is there what appears to be a drayton TRV on the feed to the cylinder?

We had one of those, too noisy by far as it span very fast as the blades are fairly small and then the bearings failed. We got one from the store we purchased our log burner from. Massive difference in quality and still going 5 years on, and quiet.

You're on the right path, what settings are they on ATM? If it's on auto I'd change it to 2 or 3 and monitor it.

That's how it works, will only drip while the boiler is in use and for a short time after.

That's not what I meant. When you're expecting the boiler to fire up and you press the i button, what does the display show?

Did you press the i button?

If the display shows s30 when it should be heating then it's your external controls at fault.

What does the boiler display show when it happens? Press the i button to see the boiler state.
