Warm flat roof unusual detail and cladding

Just to add, I was planning on the following warm roof construction from top down: Epdm Osb 18mm PIR 200mm Vapour Barrier Osb 18mm Firing (1:40 3m long) 75mm Giving approx 315mm from the top of the roof joists. So, I’m really asking where can the joists for the extension go?!

Warm flat roof unusual detail and cladding

Hi, I’m looking to build a 3m extension at some stage. In the mean time I’ve removed the existing hanging tiles and I’ve come across this unusual construction as shown below. The first floor joists are visible on the external wall. They rest on a 10inch steel column that spans the gap...

    Marley Cedral Cladding (pics).

Thanks. Makes more sense. After measuring, I think it’ll look something like this:

Or is it best just to make as few cuts as possible as the joints are hard to see anyway and must end up on battens like this:

I normally blame my bad levels on the wonky house! With the jointing is random best or more regular like below. The max width of the wall is 6.8m and the planks are 3.6m.

Hi, Just reading this thread with interest as I’m about to install Cedral Click on the front gable of my house. Does any one have any top tips or things to watch out for. In particular the jointing pattern. I’m not sure how visible the joints will be. I’m thinking I should avoid lined up...

rendering on parapet walls, but no flash cover?

Ah! You’ve spotted another thing that was bugging me! To make one, do I just get a strip of lead and fold/bend it over? Trying to buy anything at the moment is a bit of a challenge!

rendering on parapet walls, but no flash cover?

Thanks for the reply. I’ll do it that way. One more question. What size lead ... 150mm or would smaller do? The main roof is 35deg and that small section about 3m wide is 18 deg. When I researched low pitch slate roofs I was expecting to use special membrane, hooks not nails etc but the...

rendering on parapet walls, but no flash cover?

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have a similar problem and an extra question. My abutment wall looks like this: I intend to put lead over the soakers and chase it into the wall then a bell bead over the top and render to that. How do I chase the lead in? The bricks are pretty soft...

Installing a UPVC Window with Dummy sash

Thanks! I’ve got a few big windows so from what you say it may be easier to handle if the sill goes in first. I was thinking of using baypole screws to attach the sill. Are they ok?

Installing a UPVC Window with Dummy sash

I think I’ve answered my own question. Remove the dummy sashes and install the frame. On the windows I have the dummy sashes are held in place by screws which are visible when the window trims are removed. Removing these screws reveals that the dummy sash is actually hinged as with a real...

Installing a UPVC Window with Dummy sash

Hi, I have some Optima Profile 22 windows to install and some have a dummy sash. Is it necessary to remove the dummy sashes to install or do the frame fixings go straight through the dummy sash and frame and into the brickwork? Thanks!
