What have you been doing today?

Yeah I get that. However I weigh everything up these days re doing it myself vs getting someone else to do it. Although I kind of knew it was the battery and that the alternator was ok, the AA guy confirmed this with his fancier software. Old battery taken away, new battery fitted and tested...

What have you been doing today?

:) tbh I could have gone and bought myself a replacement and fitted it, but as the years roll by I seem to be less and less inclined to do these things compared to when I were a lad. I was a bit peeved as the price range of suggested batteries from them was £160 fitted to £250. He didn't have...

If the residents of a village are mostly white, does that prove they must automatically be racist

Based on the topic question, the answer would surely have to be 'no' or 'how the feck should we know?' It could be pure chance the village is predominantly white. If it could be proved the local estate agents and/or residents weren't selling property to any non white people, that's a different...

    What's the monarchy for?

I'm far from being a royalist, so my personal preference would be to see them disbanded entirely. I've not given the alternative much thought, however a parliamentary republic approach might be my preference. If the monarchy is to remain, my personal preference would be to see their land and...

Correct, completely and utterly different thing.

    Scam ??

For me, it's about more than just the time saving. Some people enjoy the act of queuing at the traditional checkout, chatting with the checkout assistant etc. Some people don't. I'm in the latter camp. The least amount of strangers I need to interact with day to day the better :)

    Scam ??

Well I took myself to Asda yesterday. Did my shopping, scanning as I went. Got to the scan & go checkout and immediately beside it, four or five people were queuing at the traditional checkout. I paid and left, meanwhile the queue hadn't moved one bit. I know what suits me better ;)

This Will Not Work For The Patient

Here's an analogy for you. Bob is a tyre fitter. He's been one for 30 years. When he first started in the game, he would complete the entire process by himself. Drive car into service bay, remove the wheel, remove the defective tyre, take a new tyre off the shelf, fit the new tyre to the...

This Will Not Work For The Patient

If Reform get in with a decent majority, I suspect those who voted them in will gradually think 'oh feck ...' on a number of fronts.

    Nah.

    Scam ??

Eh? I use scan & go. So even for a larger shop, it's as straightforward as going to the kiosk (all items already scanned by me), paying and I'm out of there. Probably takes a couple of minutes if that. Rarely do I need to queue for a free kiosk. Meanwhile the queues of folk at the...

    What have you bought today?

I think the programme and film makers think it makes things more atmospheric. Actors mumbling through their lines at little more than a whisper.

    Budget

I don't know what everyone's moaning about. Yes we pay a fair bit in tax but come on, that's rewarded with excellent public services and infrastructure. Oh wait ...

9/10 a half decent separate audio setup will give better sound than built in speakers. However, many tv progs and films do have muffled speech, some of them regardless of the audio setup you run. Ever noticed how most of the time you can hear things fine on most tv ads, and yet you'll watch an...

Reform supporters voting against their best interests

Someone in the audience of QT a few weeks back (or might have been Debate Night) said she had previously worked in the benefits office. She said it wasn't completely unusual to see third generation family members on benefits. As you said, families where the grandparents hadn't worked, nor the...
