Hi Oliver You also need to reconnect the centre of the connector block back to the earth lug on the light fitting when sorted out. Otherwise the metal fitting won't be earthed when you use it. Regards Huggybear.

That's exactly what I've done in the past before. You can then paint the lip to blend in with the rest of the wall if you want. If you cut the lip off, the back box could fall behind the plasterboard when you install it or replace the accessory in the future. Regards, Huggybear.
