Veritas Excel - Disabling Alarm Whilst Doing Some Work

As Secureiam says, it depends on your sounder, it will have a rechargeable battery that powers the sounder if the supply from the panel is removed (turned off, removed or cable cut). You could get the ladders out and disconnect the battery or sounder or let the battery run down. If it’s a...

    service valve leaking

While you are going to the trouble of replacing it, go for a Pegler service valve, the cheap ones all leak eventually. They are cheap for a reason.

    Vaillant boiler removal.

Unless it’s been fitted with some sort of aftermarket anti theft fixings, I know some social housing and local councils fit “anti-lift“ brackets on radiators to prevent theft while empty premises are being 2nd fixed, maybe they do similar with boilers. Otherwise it’s a simple job, usually remove...

    CCTV Replacement Cameras

Hikvision ColorVu are good value for your money, not too sure what resolution your DVR can handle, signals switchable TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS and colour at night.

Cat S cars - too dodgy? SKODA Octavia 2011 £4k

Personally I wouldn’t touch one, you don’t know how badly damaged it was before the repair and the quality of the workmanship. There are an awful lot of high end cars ending up on Main Dealers forecourts having been badly damaged, repaired and sold as “approved” vehicles with a clean bill of...

    Texecom Veritas alarm

You could always change the sounder to a Texecom one, the wiring couldn’t be simpler. A to A B to B Etc

    Texecom Veritas entry/exit delay issues

You are correct, the default engineer code is 1234 then press ‘prog’, if this doesn’t work then the engineer code has been changed. Your options are 1. Try to obtain the code from previous owner / installer. 2. Default to factory settings and select new user and engineer codes then reprogram...

If replacing a boiler, what would you fit?

Firstly I’d be looking at how to make the house more efficient, insulation, double glazing etc, this in turn would lower the output of the required boiler.

    Burying exposed UFH pipe

That’s shocking, makes you wonder what the rest of the install is like if he’s happy to leave that on show.

Quick update, thanks Lucid since I turned off “Auto Update Channel List” I haven’t lost any HD channels overnight, that’s 6 nights and counting. Prior to that it had happened 4 times in 10 days so fingers crossed this has fixed it. Thanks again.

    Wet Underfloor Heating between joists

Needs to be done properly otherwise it will not perform as wanted, the idea of the aluminium spreader plates is to distribute the heat from the plastic pipe over a larger area, this plate needs to be in contact with the floorboards / chipboard. Aluminium plates will perform better than foil...

    Wet Underfloor Heating between joists

The aluminium plate / foil needs to be in full contact (no gaps) with the flooring otherwise it won’t work efficiently.

    HD channels disappearing overnight.

Thanks for your reply, firstly my transmitter is indeed Winter Hill, I’m on the Lancashire coast. I will turn off the “Auto Update” feature tonight when I get home. I don’t have any pre made fly leads, I made the leads from the Labgear Distribution Hub to all of the TV points and the fly leads...

    HD channels disappearing overnight.

Just replaced a Samsung TV with a 50” Panasonic TX-50JX850B in my “man cave”. 4 times in 10 days when we turn the TV on it has lost some HD channels, retune and all back and working, reported to TV supplier and he doesn’t suspect a faulty tuner as it’s retaining the non HD channels. He...
