Open vented system, No HW or CH, BAXI 80HE boiler shows Ignition Lockout after tried to start a few times

Hi, Thanks. The vent pipe is bled every time I'm in this area of the loft so it has no trapped air at the moment.

The only thing I can think of is that diverter valve blocking the flow and after changing the pump speed it being unblocked?

I managed to find a strong magnet and it was not attaching anywhere on the feed pipework, but... and this is really strange now, after changing the pump to CCII at 20W (from CCIII at 45W) and leaving it for about 5 minutes (no other change there) boiler fired up and stayed on! The valve was left...

Thanks. I ordered some strong magnets so will carry out the test tomorrow and post back. The only other thing that makes me wonder is the 3 port diverter valve making the loud bang when moving the spindle. It does about mid way through when moving it both ways. Would you know why that is?

Makes sense - thanks for the advice re checking the blockage and unblocking. If it turns out it is not blocked is there anything else that could cause it?

Ok I will get a magnet from Amazon and try this. What if I discover a blockage? How do I unblock it?

The black tank is indeed the F&E cistern/tank. There is another large tank/cistern on the other side of the loft (on the left on the below picture).

Also ignore the signage on the first photo - it is from an older issue and currenlt both flow and return pipes are cold.

One other thing I noticed today is that there is never any clicking of the HW cylinder thermostat as it used to when cranking it down and up. Not sure whether it plays any role in this though.

I have a magnet but not strong I suppose no. Where can I get one from?

The F&E tank is half full of water yes. How do I know if the feed is blocked?

Hi @terryplumb. It is the latter - it fires up and runs for a short time as if being called for heat and after maybe 4-5 times it goes into ignition lockout.

Hi, I have an issue with my OV system and was wondering if anyone can help. When I set the programmer to CH and HW constantly on and check the 3 port diverter valve I do not observe any hot pipes although the Grundfox II pump seems to be operating ok on CCIII showing 45W and on CCII showing...

Also why only temporary? Did you get rid of it later on?

Installing a beam to support loft inspection path

Thanks for the photo and the post @cdbe. Looks very sturdy. Do you think I should change my plan and hang the inspection path off the purlins? Your purlins look many times as big as mine so unsure. Would it be better to spread the load off purlins rather than off the "rafter tie"? If I am not...

Installing a beam to support loft inspection path

Thanks @cdbe for valuable input. I will position as you say and settled on 2x7 C24 in the end. Hope it does not overload the 2x3 rafters too much with the F&E tank being held up by the same rafters as well (I think it shouldn't as it will be installed very close to the wall plates).

Installing a beam to support loft inspection path

Since I am considering replacing it I suppose I should redo it with longer 2x6 (C24 instead of C16) timber as 2x8 would be too heavy to be attached to 2x3 rafters. What do you think?

Installing a beam to support loft inspection path

@cdbe I might want to as well try and fit a bit longer beam and thus position it lower - I might be able to come down 5-7cm or so. What do you think?
