Drayton Wiser and boiler cycling at low demand

The maximum number of cycles per hour is controlled by the specified boiler type. The Wiser app has 4 types (gas, oil, electric & Heat Pump). I don't believe there is a means to directly set the CPH value.

Drayton Wiser and boiler cycling at low demand

Your biggest problem may be to get the app to allow you to modify the Heat Source value

Drayton Wiser and boiler cycling at low demand

Not sure of their concern. Whilst the Wiser system has many inbuilt smart features, it's "just" acting as an on/off switch to the boiler in respect of the CPH value. Unless you are using the opentherm module there is no management of the boiler by Wiser. It's can be undone in a jiffy if you find...

Drayton Wiser and boiler cycling at low demand

You can tell the Wiser system you have an oil boiler to adjust the hourly cycle rate, it's just a setting option. Have a look at this https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/drayton-wiser-and-vaillant-boiler.513988/ I have used the oil option (on my gas boiler) for the past year or so and I'm sure...

Danfoss 40704 TP4000/5000/5000S/5001+RF Heating Control Stopped Working.

You need a thermostat and/or timer otherwise there is nothing to tell the boiler to stop. The TRV closes when the individual radiator is up to temperature but does not control the boiler in any way. The X wire you highlighted is a earth which is not required, so it can be happily ignored. As...

    Drayton Wiser operating questions

Based on the HA forum I suspect the polling rate does contribute but it is not the only cause. Hopefully the new firmware will fix the problem.

    Drayton Wiser operating questions

Looking on the Home Assistant forum this is an ongoing problem. It's more prevalent if you have mesh wifi but not exclusively. I've seen the problem on a few occasions over the past couple of months. Generally it clears itself within 30-60 minutes but if not going in & out of setup should...

    Drayton Wiser operating questions

The Wiser system permits 8 changes per day per room to a granularity of 1 minute. There is nothing preventing you setting a 1 minute period if you wished, not that it would make much sense of course. I'd agree that gaps of 30 minutes or less between scheduled changes is not really necessary but...

Hive heating & hot water install wiring help with existing CH thermostat

I was going to add, with each of the combinbations can you see which zone valve is open and perhaps if you can feel a flow through the pipe. Does the boiler stop when the HW boost ends? If the CH zone valve is faulty I would expet the problem to occur during central heating only cycles as...

Hive heating & hot water install wiring help with existing CH thermostat

Very strange. Since fitting the Hive had you tried a HW boost previously or is it just in the past couple of days? There are only 3 active combinations the Hive Hub should create. The "inactive" one is HW & CH both off All I can suggest is to try each of HW only CH only HW+CH and see if any...

    Drayton Wiser operating questions

Initially I had an incorrect view on how ECO worked. My current understanding is the system will switch to eco mode if it determines the setpoint temperature will be maintained until the end of the scheduled window. For example if the setpoint is 21C until 22:30 and current room temp is 21.5C...

Danfoss 40704 TP4000/5000/5000S/5001+RF Heating Control Stopped Working.

Whilst the wiring could be a faulty it's unlikely in your case. As it's a battery powered model the display would be visible even if the boiler itself had no power. You can indeed prise the thermostat off the wall following the instructions from the install guide...

Danfoss 40704 TP4000/5000/5000S/5001+RF Heating Control Stopped Working.

I believe you will find that your thermostat is a wired model. There are a number of replacement wireless models but will be more difficult to fit as the receiver unit is generally mains powered. The easiest would be a straight swap for another battery powered wired model such as the Honeywell...

Danfoss 40704 TP4000/5000/5000S/5001+RF Heating Control Stopped Working.

You can reset the unit as follows Partial reset: Press RESET (used to restart micro-computer) if display freezes for any reason. This does not reset any programme, clock or date. It is recommended that this is done at time of installation. User full reset: Press RESET whilst holding down PROG...

Replacing an EPH Ember with a Drayton Wiser Kit 3

That's it. Occasionally the planets all align You may not even need to replace the backplate. Just move the connections as you indicated (3->1 & 4->3). Naturally enough the Wiser will have a phantom channel for Hot Water which can be ignored.

Smart Thermostat and Smart TRV installation advice

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback. As you will probably find getting the system to work as you wish takes a bit of trial and error. Moving from an "on/off" system with a single source of temperature data to one with many inputs has a learning curve. You may also want to investigate if comfort...

Smart Thermostat and Smart TRV installation advice

Agreed. It might just be the terminology I used, by "same named room" meant the name defined in the Wiser app. The physical location is neither here nor there as Wiser has no knowledge of that. If only the Wiser app used a different term to describe the grouping of physical rooms into logical...

Smart Thermostat and Smart TRV installation advice

Nope, the roomstat is king. It is the sole source of the temperature value used. Any TRV's in the same "room" are effectively managed by the roomstat. They are automatically linked as they are in the same named room.

Smart Thermostat and Smart TRV installation advice

In the Wiser app you create a "room", but it is really just the name for a managed area which can be multiple physical rooms you wish to control as one. Below I'll call this an area to differentiate from the physical room, although in the Wiser app it's called a room. Confusing - you bet. Let's...

Smart Thermostat and Smart TRV installation advice

I should have added. Once all wiring is done you should set the built-in timer to permanently on as that permits the Wiser Hub to control the boiler. I believe there is a 3 position slider (off, timed & on) on the front of the clock
