Beko DW686 - Fan Drying - Condensation of Floor - Normal?

I wouldn't normally bump such an old thread but, well, Graeme did it first, and besides this really does seem to be the only thread on the subject on the entire Internet! Our Blomberg ('posh' Beko) LDV42244 also has this drying fan which exhausts to the rear and I happened to notice it was...

    Speedfit or compression end caps?

Whilst I'm a fan of pushfit I'd probably go for a compression fitting in this instance. However, despite this I would remind myself that a pushfit end cap in a non-easily-accessible location is arguably no different than any other pushfit fitting in a similar place out of sight and whilst...

    Ideal Icos NO Display.... HELP

Yes, always good to have potentially helpful information in the archives. Our Icos is 15 years old now and whilst there's a temptation to replace/'upgrade' it whilst the house is currently under a certain amount of renovation it is hard to justify as there's absolutely nothing wrong with it as...

    No open soil vent

There are hundreds of thousands of houses with setups just like yours, and unless you are experiencing any issues there’s no need for any alterations to be made.

    Radiator pipes trickling sound

Yes, I'm suspecting the same. It seems to be a not-uncommon issue (forgive the double negative but I wouldn't say it is necessarily 'common' as such) with radiators piped from above and, as @MeldrewsMate says, is a result of trapped air in the flow pipe. The noise of the water running past this...

Avoiding noise and smells when making waste for dishwasher?

It doesn't really make any noise at all, and that would be an issue as like you this is in an open plan family room. In all honesty I don't have any personal experience of standpipes, but to those that are recommending one don't they make a lot of noise by virtue of the distance the water has...

Avoiding noise and smells when making waste for dishwasher?

I might be misunderstanding your setup or concerns, but I fitted a McAlpine space saving trap and connected the adjacent dishwasher to that. No gurgling, no smells, no problems at all?

Honeywell CM907 unexpected starting (split off from old thread)

What's the set temperature overnight, and the room temperature at the time of it calling for heat?

    Worcester 28cdi diverter valve

Yeah, sounds sensible. I only ever did the job a couple of times (different boilers) and didn't have an issue but it sounds from those with more experience that they can present a problem and so best err on the side of caution and leave them well alone!

    Worcester 28cdi diverter valve

Many years ago I uploaded a bunch of photos capturing my repair of a 24CDi and it may be worth having a look/read through if you haven't seen it already: https://www.newtonnet.co.uk/house/boiler/ (Apologies for the inline adverts - I used some code that allowed Google to insert them where they...

No Water after 4 plumber visits please help!!!

Also not a plumber, and I haven't even read the whole thread, but this is the Internet so they're not prerequisites for wading in anyway... Recalling that you've had your first hot shower for a while I was wondering if your observations have all been shower based? Do you get hot water out of a...

    Honeywell CM907 9.5degree limit?

The missing digit will almost certainly be down to the LCD ribbon cable failing to maintain connectivity with the circuit board. Very common on Honeywell's of this era, and often easily fixed by removing the board and softening up the ribbon cable (or rather the adhesive it attaches with) with a...

Energy Saving in an Open Plan world

The law of diminishing returns would limit the benefit from changes to the floor and walls. Your issue is the glazing and its five-fold heat loss compared to everything else.

Energy Saving in an Open Plan world

Open plan isn't all that different from 'closed'(?) plan living as long as heat losses are properly taken into account. The issue here has nothing to do with it being open plan - it's all that glazing.

Energy Saving in an Open Plan world

I'm not sure a camera will tell you much more than you can already see - the biggest heat loss by far will be from the glazing and frames. That is a *lot* of glass you've got there and I am surprised it managed to meet regulations given the presumably limited amount of heat loss improvements...

    Thermostat clicking

Probably more likely to be a dodgy relay in an electronic stat like that. As you've got a box full I wouldn't give it a second thought - just swap a new one in! :)

    MVHR's Are they worth it

Yes, I'd echo the power consumption aspect - I've got power monitoring on ours and it too has cost £23 for the previous 12 months. One thing I forgot to mention is the summer bypass feature that removes the heat exchanger during the summer months thus still allowing filtered fresh air into the...

    MVHR's Are they worth it

I've lived in two houses with MVHR now. The first was a new build, fitted as part of initial construction, and such were we so impressed it with it we retrofitted one to our second house. Needless to say a retrofit is a lot of hard work, particularly if you don't want boxing in and compromised...

Extending Hot Water Feeds to New Extension

Yeah that'd be fine, it's just the more you fill the smaller the error margin but no need to go overboard (like I would!).

Extending Hot Water Feeds to New Extension

Not necessarily - it might just mean the shower flow is still exceeding the (increased) minimum flow meter rate whereas the new tap isn't. Put the shower on hot only and measure that rate too.
