Heating not going off on timer

It wont be clock or thermostat. It is just about possible that it is clock AND thermostat. Most likely is a bit of muck in 3 port valve so heating is off but port is not sealed. To test, turn on heating only, if not possible on your clock, put it on water only then turn cylinder stat right down...

WARNING - Misuse of Angle Grinder - Please read and do not attempt what I did !

My little angle grinder does not have a locking switch, it has a switch that needs to be slid back & then pushed in for safety. In gloves, not possible, slightly sweaty, not posssible. This means that you have to change your grip, switch it on, then change your grip back again while keeping it...

    leak from upstairs tiled bathroom!

But before you cut holes, have a really good look at the pipes to the towel rail, wipe them with a tissue, just to make certain that it is not just a leak from pipe to valve connection dribbling down the pipe to below the floor.

    Poor pressure from new shower

As old & Bold but when you have shower off the wall look in the inlets to the valve for a pair of filters and (hopefully) clean the muck out.

Heating not going off on timer

So if you put it on water only does the heating still run?

    Time control for electric radiators

I guess that they are 20/25 years. They have an inf plate saying NC2550Auto or NC3300Combi. The numbers refer to the size and Combi has a convector heater in addition to the storage. That second link from motorbiking also has a helpful "storage heaters vs electric radiators" page which has...

    Time control for electric radiators

Thanks for the thoughts. A 125litre cylinder will heat up (6 kw) in 70 mins therefore if you used this as a heat store you would theoretically have a 6kw output available for 70 minutes. Of course once it had cooled below 50 degrees extracting further heat to warm a room would be difficult so...

    Time control for electric radiators

I didn't put the link in because it filled 1/2 a page. I know that I should be able to put This or Here and have that point to the page but danged if I can remember how.

    Time control for electric radiators

Yes, oil-filled rads is what I was looking at. I quite liked the Acova ones (screwfix) and they have stat but not timer. There are alternatives which have both

    Time control for electric radiators

Thanks John. 3 x 1200 watt & 2 x 1400 watt. She has had this type of heating before in rented flats and is used to the costs & comfort. I did wonder if the Quantum storage heaters might be an option but they are terribly expensive and I can not seem to find any proper info on heat stored and how...

    Time control for electric radiators

Yes. Giving up Econ 7. My daughters flat and she is at work all day (when the house is warm) and comes hometo a cold flat in the evening.

    Time control for electric radiators

Yes the storage are on economy 7 but the plan is to get this removed and have the 2 consumer units linked so that cabling can be re-used. A timer on the whole consumer unit would also be interesting but I doubt that this is possible.

    Time control for electric radiators

Looking at getting storage heaters out and electric radiators in. Quite liked the look of the Acova ones but they only have a thermostat not a timer. I realise that a timer spur could be used, but I see that these rads also have a "control" wire. Anyone found a good way of controlling them. I...

Slow overflow - possibly from hot water cylinder

Water is running out of your overflow therefore water is running IN to your overflow. Can you follow the pipe and see what is connected to it? WC overflow perhaps?

Slow overflow - possibly from hot water cylinder

A photo may or may not help but it will certainly do no harm although Jeff did once post one that I am still trying to unsee.

Slow overflow - possibly from hot water cylinder

Oh and any photo may not always help but will rarely do harm (although I think Jeff did post one once that I am trying to unsee)

Slow overflow - possibly from hot water cylinder

He also has an overflow going. Probably not connected to shower pump kicking in but pipe with water coming out, must have water going in. Can you not find where from? Do you have 2 cold tanks? 1 small one for heating, one larger one for cold supply (including supply to cylinder)?

    Lever on 3 way

That should do it but you should first check that it is valve that is faulty (probably is) by testing & reporting as I mentioned
