Anybody use Xpress pipe for heating?

I used York Xpress copper for all services about 4 years ago. The battery tool is more convenient. You can also get a manual tool to 15 and 22. I have topped up the boiler once in 4 years. I chose copper because you can pull bends and go straight to compression for final connections. Geberit...

PEX pipe sizing (Geberit Mepla) for domestic installation

Geberit Mepla, excellent system used extensively in hospitals in Scotland as copper is not allowed. The 16 and 20mm od sizes bend easly to save fitting and pressure loss. My main concern about your choice to run 26mm od for 15m is the volume of water this run will contain. Which apears to be...

    Opinions on induction hob please.

No, because it is per unit of energy as stated above. However with gas i would guess a lot of the heat is not transfered into the pan and wasted. Induction is very efficient but the fuel is more expensive.

    cant find female radiator lockshield

I think he means that the "nut" and olive on the pipe he has disconnected is male and he requires a valve with a female body so he does not have to cut the pipe to swap the nut. Hattersley available from BSS are like this. I have them excelent valves.

    16A Socket

You might want to consider some active cooling for the room. 2.7 kw is a lot of heat for 1 room. And you would not want open windows with 1.2kw of amplifiers. sorry pugwash just noticed your comment.....

Would leaving boiler on all day increase bill?

Totally agree, however you need to decide what you are willing to pay for comfort. I honestly think that the difference between letting a house cool during the day and having the boiler running full tilt for hours getting it back up to temperature or running at set temperatures would be very...

Would leaving boiler on all day increase bill?

Don’t agree, If you have decent thermostatic temperature control and you have your boiler on for 12hrs a day or 24hrs a day you are still only overcoming the insulation losses of your house. The only difference being if outside is 5degC and inside is 22degC the delta T is constantly 17degC if...

switch off light and switch alternative light.

This is not very green as there would be a light on in that room 24hrs a day, even thought LED is quite efficient. 'sparkwright' has the answer.

    Installing an induction hob

The glass rim around my induction hob supports the weight of the hob and everything on it and is installed to the MIs. In fact the MIs specifically say not to use adhesives or other fixings as the glass could crack due to expansion. Don't try this but I recon because its supported around the...
