    Bathroom ceiling paint suddenly peeling....

This has been fine for years, then this. It looks like it is just the final coat. Does paint 'wear out'? There's no mildew spotting. I used B&Q's Colours Premium Bathroom Pure Brilliant White (yeah, I know - but it has been fine), so I would welcome ideas for better products and surface...

    Calculating Angles

Nice! Easier in many ways than all those trig formulas. You have it right I think for the saw tilt angle, but how would you calculate the mitre cut angle? I can visualise the vector space you describe, but cannot see how to get the mitre angle (about 6.51deg) using this method. Some typos...

    Flatpack Manufacturing Error?

Have you got the sides upside down/swapped over?? Looking at Figure 9 of http://photo.tvilum.com/TVI_PDF/PDF/59003-50.pdf, that could shift everything to the wrong end. Photos would help.

    Calculating Angles

Better than related Sir Rusty! These equations provide the same answers. With the OPs approximate pitch = spring = 74deg and 'corner' = 135deg, I get the same answers as I mentioned previously. Someone very clever with 'trig' has somehow simplified these, it seems.

    Calculating Angles

Ooooo - this is an interesting one. Firstly, I don't think you can scale between 0deg and 22.5deg that way you have. It looks like you have assumed a linear variation and you have done (not unreasonably) what's called linear interpolation. If you look at the mathematical formulas in the...

Glass shelf lugs - semi-round clear plastic - 5.6mm hole

Thanks JohnD - yes I have something like that on order fully expecting the loose-ish fit to be a source of disappointment. I might also try these as they have a nifty-looking spring section...

Glass shelf lugs - semi-round clear plastic - 5.6mm hole

SWMBO was cleaning and one of these shelf support lugs disintegrated. I cannot find anything similar on the interweb. I need 4. The glass shelf sits within a surrounding frame on three sides. There are two lugs on the front frame and one each side. There is a quadrant cutout in the semi-round...

    Euro cylinder lock issue.

I am not a locksmith (!) but I have found that a combination of uPVC door clearance hole size/location, the handle plate fixing lugs, and the multipoint lock assembly location can all cause difficulties. A smidge out of alignment and the Eurolock can bind in the manner you described...

Modeling the thermal part of the time current curve

G'day cobber, I think you'd be better off posting this on a maths Q&A site (maybe starting here .....https://math.stackexchange.com/search?q=curve+fit). I assume you've tried a curve fit in Excel and searching some the original literature in fusing currents (e.g...

uPVC Door Sticking and Locking Problems

Toe and *heel* is indeed a thing. The hinges look adjustable, although that one pic uploaded looks a bit 'leggy'. I wonder why the thoroughly 'good guy' wasnt able?

uPVC Door Sticking and Locking Problems

So here's what I'd do. Note that I am (just) a DIYer. More experienced DIYers and professional fitters may disagree. Remove that lower plate (in image 2461). See if the cam keep can be removed from the plate i.e. the part held in place with the two screws in those adjustment slots. Retain the...

uPVC Door Sticking and Locking Problems

Pictures might be useful of the hinges and each of the cams (the little movable locking wheels on the door side) and the cam keeps (the metal bit on the frame with which the cams engage). The hinges would determine the extent to which door can be adjusted. The cam/keep pics might show wear...

Best way to repair door frames

Noooooo. Take 'em off, clean 'em up, put 'em back. Sorted! Too much embuggerment to do otherwise. You could get the doors dipped and stripped too.

    Identifying a 110mm x 6mm frame fixing

Thanks Foxy! I will get SS, but a couple of queries, if I may... Does the wood screws thing imply these were not originally frame fixings, i.e. with a supplied full-length rawlplug. Or is that reading too much into it? That's my point. The floor holes in the door frame are only large enough...

    Identifying a 110mm x 6mm frame fixing

Can anyone identify the manufacturer and range please? I'd like to replace some corroded ones with exact replacements if I can. Compatible accessories would be handy too (i.e. decorative caps). 110mm 6mm Frame Fixing by Careful_Bodger posted 24 Mar 2019 at 3:31 PM They are 110mm long Pozidrive...

    NightLight BUT brighter?

I use one of these.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Status-SLEDCCPTNL1PK3-LED-Auto-Plug-Through-Night-Light-White/323300098010 Though I think I bought mine at TOFS. Colour is selectable. I use red/pink as blue and white are a bit too bright. Bright enough to navigate a room.
