This has been fine for years, then this. It looks like it is just the final coat. Does paint 'wear out'? There's no mildew spotting.

I used B&Q's Colours Premium Bathroom Pure Brilliant White (yeah, I know - but it has been fine), so I would welcome ideas for better products and surface preparation.

I note back in 2011 there was a recommendation for Leyland paints (https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/paint-peeling.260509/)

Thanks!

Is that above a shower enclosure?

Small bathrooms- I normally paint the ceiling with waterbased Dulux Trade eggshell. Small bathrooms with woefully inadequate ventilation- I use oil based eggshell.

I have worked in a couple of houses where the exiting paint was OK until the boiler was replaced and provided a faster flow of hot water
