What Do You Think of This Circuit?

IF2 waveform is not correct at the motor end

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

How? Which fault are you thinking of specifically? The current is drawn over the entire AC waveform with an active PFC rather than just a pulse to charge the HV capacitor. You don't see the same DC biased current waveforms. Sure you can create situations, but there's a whole multitude of...

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

Those diagrams aren't very representative of real world situations once in circuit and in an appliance. Number 8 is plain incorrect. Yes you can recreate those, the likelihood is vanishingly low except on actually damaged equipment. General purpose power supplies will only be susceptible on the...

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

Any DC bias on the AC line is a very unusual circumstance caused by a fault - A properly working piece of equipment should not be injecting DC current. People seem to associate SMPSUs with this, particularly car chargers for some reason, but they would not get approvals if this was the case...

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

That shouldn't matter as you don't need it to work if you have the override on. As soon as you release the override the switch will work normally as it would do after a power outage.

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

No conceivable reason why it would blow up. All configurations for making an SSR are safe to bypass.

What Do You Think of This Circuit?

Looks fine to me. There's no issue with the bypass switch so crack on.

    EICR unsatisfactory! rewiring recommended

Reiterating not to use or recommend that electrician again. Many points there show a lack of understanding, or deception. No.3 is particularly a salesperson tactic. Cost is dependant on many factors and we do not know the spec, however £8.5k seems high.

Electric shocks from metal light switches

It's not that much of a disaster - a common method for chipboard floors, but saves a lot of time on floorboards too. You'd insert a batten through the hole and affix it to the surrounding area and screw the centre part back in. It just looks like they were careless and split the board. It should...

Electric shocks from metal light switches

Sounds way too vague for someone who knows what they're doing. Changing to plastic switches is not an acceptable fix, especially if it has the potential to cause issues on any Class I device. Get someone out who knows what they're doing - already sounds like a main earth fault if the washing...

using inverters to power computer gear

It's a problem for power supplies if an active PFC is present and non-sinewave inverters are used. Avoid wherever possible and make sure it's a sinewave output like a quality APC unit

Could my LED bulbs be overheating?

It sounds electrical, but it could be a thermal issue in that light fitting. There will be no convection cooling as there is no air path for the cool air to get in so those lamps probably won't last long anyway. Can you purchase another lamp from a known good brand and see if that behaves the same?

    Simple UVB Ballast wiring help

No, it's not the correct unit. That driver is for 4-pin tubes. If you search for 9W ballast, there are some on ebay along with aliexpress etc. Potentially not worth the repair though.

Think there's some thing missing, fluorescent lamp 'A' level.

The earth strip is to help in cold conditions. They still required a starter and inductive ballast.

Think there's some thing missing, fluorescent lamp 'A' level.

The ballast is used to strike the arc when the rapidly collapsing magnetic field is created by the opening of the starter

Think there's some thing missing, fluorescent lamp 'A' level.

The lamp would never strike in the first place.

    Are LEDs a big con?

Sorry but you're way out. High power LEDs used for lighting are nowhere near that kind of efficiency, even less so given the dies operate way over 20 or 25C which is the optimal temperature for both the LED die and the phosphor.

    Are LEDs a big con?

Seems like a nonsense bit of info. High colour temperature LEDs are more efficient than low colour temperature as all white LEDs are based around blue dies, so the fewer losses in phosphor the better. CRI is a separate metric.
