Best dry lining boxes for lath and plaster wall

External walls are exactly as you say, apart from those upstairs that have a crawl space in the eves behind them.

Best dry lining boxes for lath and plaster wall

Thanks. Will have to have a look behind the surface. In the upstairs rooms where there's a void behind I could possibly bridge between stud to make a surface to mount a metal box. That would leave the cut edges of the plaster unsupported though, unless I plastered them into box making it a...

Best dry lining boxes for lath and plaster wall

Hi, As the subject says, I'm looking for thoughts for the best type of boxes for lath and plaster walls. Compared to plasterboard the differences are uneven back surface, quite thick overall, and tendency to crumble around any cut out. Particularly for the last reason I'd rather something...

    Charging a caravan battery

I just did a quick test, looks like it pushes a hundred milliamps or so through while the battery's on float, it varies so may depend on voltage rather than being a fixed current. The Optimate will be quite gentle since a large part of their market is for motorcycles and similar with small...

    Which domestic consumer unit?

Smaller as well, saves the space of two dual-width RCDs.

    Charging a caravan battery

Although it's not a universal answer, I can confirm that a 0.8A charger is well able to maintain a 120AH battery, and to fully charge it for that matter. I say well able because it sits on the Float state most of the time, during which time I think it doesn't provide any current at all, just...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

I thought I'd mentioned using a 10mm bore hose, or are you saying it needs bigger still? I must admit I'mreally struggling to see how a restricted air supply could give the symptoms I've described. Remember - works perfectly forwards, but reluctant to hammer backwards. I can even feel that...

    Charging a caravan battery

For storage something like the Optimate is ideal. For recharging from flat it will do it but only slowly. Mine is the Optimate 2, 0.8A charge rate. I've recharged the digger's 120AH battery from completely flat once, it took several days but got there in the end. By the way for your...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

With the thing in bits I was looking for anything not symmetrical, to try and understand why it works in one direction and not the other. The only thing I found was a rough bit on one side of the rocker, I can't really see how it would have that effect but I smoothed it off anyway. Back...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

I believe you, as soon as I found the problem exists only in one direction it was clear that air supply isn't the issue.

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

That comes back to the point I've been trying to make, when it sulks in reverse nothing turns at all. It's not that it's too slow for the dog to lock and hammer, the dog locks and stops it rotating at all. Only in reverse. I still really can't see how that could be caused by poor airflow -...

    Charging a caravan battery

Time clock makes sense for automatic unattended operation. What I tend to do is just connect the charger now and again, the batteries won't come to any harm being left for a week or two at a time, or even a month.

    Charging a caravan battery

I use one of these, in my case the batteries are from a boat rather than a caravan but the principle is the same, they're 120AH leisure batteries. It would take a long time to recharge from flat but is perfectly fine keeping them on float charge. https://www.optimate.co.uk/products/optimate-2

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

I think I may have ruled out the air supply as the issue. Firstly because it works every single time in forwards, and when it runs out of torque fully tightening the bolt it still hammers trying to tighten it further. It's definitely more powerful and lively at say 90psi compared to 55 or so...

    MK brand

When would you say the reduction in quality happened? Our house was rewired in 2011 and all accessories are MK Logic Plus white, and I've not seen any issues. I bought the same for the outbuildings. However I now need some more parts, sockets and switches. If I hadn't seen this thread I'd...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

Would changing the cut-in pressure alone have that effect, so long as the upper cut-out pressure remains unchanged? I accept that the motor would run more often, but not more in total. In fact maybe less because at the moment if I've used a bit of air but need a decent pressure, the only way...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

Cheers. I think I'm going to tear into it. I really just got it because I had the compressor already for other reasons, so thought I might as well. It comes in handy where it's difficult to hold the work still rather than where huge force is needed. For some reason I duplicated the link to...

Yes, it leaked like hell when I just screwed the adapter in, it needed PTFE to make it tight.

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

I know someone with a much bigger compressor, but he's away at the moment. I'm still not clear how the pump output affects a tool that doesn't draw enough air to start the pump running at all, this air stuff seems counter intuitive. However it's an obvious thing to try.
