Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Not sure what you mean - I hope you are not suggesting I am trying to take you for mugs - I am deadly flaming serious! This is my system and I am losing hope of getting it sorted out. Why do you think you are being taken for mugs? I don't even know what speedfit is - although I imagine it is...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Before he did anything this was tried - unsuccessfully. Of course the system worked fine for about 30 years so the pump position should be OK. In fact it was moved by British Gas from the boiler to its present postion about 20 years ago to solve a problem relating to the hot water not...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Thanks Tony - he is Corgi registered and very experienced so should have been OK! He has "checked with his plumbing friends" who said they were all unaware of the problem - especially in terms of the sectionality of the boiler. He did say he could fit an additional stat but is obviously worried...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

update Plumber has converted to sealed (which seemed to sort problem out so I can only imagine that it was taking in air via F&E/vent?) - and I have just found out that the boiler is not suitable for a pressurised system - no high limit stat and sectional boiler so manufacturer says cannot...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

I agree - I think the problem is that most of the radiators now seem OK with only two problem ones - the lounge and dining room. The lounge in particular involves a lomg run of 10 mm pipe and I fear the sludge is in that. Flushing will therefore be difficult and replumbing it very messy. Not...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Hopefully it does as plumber has just left after doing it! He is also an industrial heating engineer so hopefully knows what he is doing :) It does seem to have made a substantial difference - all rads now hot although the lounge and dining room ones are only fully hot (top and bottom) when...

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Thinking of pressurising the system to do away with the F&E and try to make sure no air is getting in. MOD 2 please use the edit key

Is the best way forward power flushing then, do you think?

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

You could be right - but I do know him well enough for him to tell me. Wehave discussed doing that but it would be a horrendous job!

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Plenty hot enough - can't touch the pipe. Boiler on maximum

Circulation problem - and my plumber is desperate!

Situation is that my Central Heating (30 years old) is not functioning properly. Given my best shot at describing it - but I know nothing about plumbing :( This is an open vented system with an F&E tank and a conventional S plan layout exactly as per this drawing according to the plumber...
