How to connect rainwater downpipe into toilet soil pipe?

The house in question is quite old and has a combined drainage system. There's a soil pipe from the toilet that runs beneath a roof eave where there's a raingutter downpipe. What fittings do I need to connect the rainwater downpipe to the toilet soil pipe? Would something like a rear inlet...

What to put over window of bungalow?

Thanks, sorry yes it's uPVC. The windows are already installed so I guess it'll be a bit of a hassle to remove them and put packers underneath... I'm also asking because I've noticed some mould growth by the window on the inside so thought I'd need to put some damp proof membrane somewhere...

What to put over window of bungalow?

I put in new double glazing windows and am soon getting the roof done on an older bungalow, older being not new built but decades old (I have no idea how old). The current structure is as shown below: At the moment there is the original concrete lintel on the interior block wall. Above the...

Changing master phone socket? Openreach or generic brand?

Thanks. Another thing. Where the drop line comes into the house there is an old BT52A junction box from which a twisted pair cable runs to the old master socket. If I want to replace that twisted pair cable, what should I go for? Some CAT5? The junction box I'll replace with a new BT78A I think.

Changing master phone socket? Openreach or generic brand?

Been doing an extension on an old house and now it's time to get the internet sorted. The current master socket is basically antique and needs replacing. I'm aware this is the property of Openreach and there may be consequences but I'm willing to take the risk. Anyway, what master socket should...

Need to join four 1.5mm² wires in Wago 221, use a 3 way or 5 way?

Hi, I have a few areas where I need to join four 1.5mm² wires together (for a lighting circuit). I only have the Wago 221 3-way and 5-way connectors (all 0.14 to 4mm²) and they don't seem to sell 4-way connectors. What should I do, use a 3-way and double up in one of the holes (after all, 2 x...

Manual for bathroom extractor fan calls for a "remote on-off switch". What is this?

Sorry, didn't make it clear, the "switched L" was supposed to mean it was coming from a light switch, yes.

Manual for bathroom extractor fan calls for a "remote on-off switch". What is this?

Right, looking those kinds of wiring diagrams confuse me. So it's just as I thought, is it? From junction box > [N + switched L + Permanent Live] ------> [3 pole isolator switch] ------> [Fan] With the switched live going to the T terminal in the fan.

Manual for bathroom extractor fan calls for a "remote on-off switch". What is this?

Just bought an extractor fan with a timer to install in the bathroom. The wiring I thought would look like this: [N + switched L + Permanent Live] ------> [3 pole isolator switch] ------> [Fan] But an addendum was included in the box (photo of it attached) that calls for the use of a "Remote...

Lighting a new extension, spur or extend radial? Plan attached.

Oh I see, so for the two light pendants just use a 4 terminal ceiling rose instead of a junction box, while for the other two downlight connections using a Wago box is fine? To be honest I guess I just thought using a proper junction box was better practice but just using loop in ceiling rose...

Lighting a new extension, spur or extend radial? Plan attached.

Thanks for the info! What do you mean by try to avoid using junction boxes by spurring from the lights? Where it says "J" in my diagram I plan to use Wago connectors in a Wago box, mount it and zip tie to to make a maintenance free "junction box". Is that not the correct way of doing it?

Lighting a new extension, spur or extend radial? Plan attached.

Hi folks, I have a medium size split level 3 bedroom home and have just finished an extension which has increased the kitchen, added an extra study room and bathroom. Question is, do I need to find the end of the 6A lighting radial circuit and extend from there, or can I spur off of the...
