Idea of cost to reinstate this basement window?

That's an idea, not sure what the planners would make of it though! I think they'd rather it resembled what it did originally. This is one house on a row of 4 with these windows too, so it wouldn't look right unfortunately.

Idea of cost to reinstate this basement window?

Hello, A long while back the basement window of our house was bricked up and we now want to put it back to how it was. The current situation is that we have a small hole there where materials have made their way in to the basement during conversion. It would be great to get an idea of what to...

Error: Solid floor level lower than specified. Redo, top up, or what?

True, thicker slab = a bigger heat store I suppose. The FFL has been accounted for yep. So the screed is 20mm lower, and so will the finished tiles. There's been a bit of a miscalculation somewhere in the floor build-up.

Error: Solid floor level lower than specified. Redo, top up, or what?

There's no way the builders would entertain dropping the doors lower at this stage. It would have all sorts of other knock-on effects too. Digging out the screed to re-pour would be traumatic. The builders absolutely won't want to do it, though in most normal scenarios a supplier should do what...

Error: Solid floor level lower than specified. Redo, top up, or what?

Can't lower the doors nope. They are in. Yea I mean screed. UFH pipes are set in it. We have a large open plan space where there is a single 5x8m section, then a step UP to a 3.5x2.8 section. The latter has the bifold doors at the end. The step up was supposed to be approx 140mm. It is 120mm...

Error: Solid floor level lower than specified. Redo, top up, or what?

Hi all, Bit of an issue. We specified a finished floor level with a flush bi-fold door threshold in mind, and were very clear with the builder about the required floor height. All was agreed. Insulation was laid, concrete poured and left to set. The floor has come out approx 20-25mm lower than...

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Heyup, thanks for the info. 15mm is pretty small, that's almost flush? Is it classed as the 'low' threshold? Mine will be the 50mm rebated threshold (weather rated) with 25mm sill under it. 75mm in total, sat one and a bit of a brick up from ground level. This kind of thing > Does your 15mm...

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Bonkers because you think it is all unnecessary, or because it wouldn't work? Or both? I figured that pumping the water right to the back of the garden until a heavy downpour weakens off would stop it having a chance of rising up against the doors.

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Not sure about possible water height. I do know the neighbor further down the run has had issues. They are the end of the drain run though, and I'm the start of it. At the back will just be earth, no hard standing. We intend to deck over this as it seems a more sensible option from a drainage...

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Any idea how well a set of properly fitted bifolds are likely to hold back a few inches of water in a quick flash flood situation?

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Yea the doors are the lowest point. I'm not concerned about any other area. There was a succession of 3 heavy storms one after the other a couple of weeks ago. The neighbor 3 doors down had water pumping up out of their manhole and some went in their kitchen. They are at the end of the drain...

Sump/pump in garden to take water away from house?

Hi all, See the diagram attached for a visual explanation here. We have an extension on the back of the house. Due to one reason and another the bifold doors that go across the back and set pretty low in the brickwork. There will be a 1 - 1.5 brick stepdown from the sill to the ground. To the...

    Kitchen layout preferences? input needed!

Hi all, As it's not building-work specifically, I thought I stick this in here. Designing a kitchen layout and I'm struggling to decide on what will work best from a functional point of view, as well as a livable space point of view. Take a look at the attached and see what you think of these...
