    Rcbo for lighting circuit

Why would you want to fit a rcbo, unless you are adding cables to be buried or have circuits in a bathroom with out supplementary bonding?

Taking two spurs from ceiling rose

Yes you can do as you suggest, however rather than shoving the rose up above the ceiling, use a joint box. Is the attic accessible? If not a maintenance free joint box would be required.

Domestic Electrical Installer Course (18 days)

Some good advice here.. Definitely try and find a local business or one man band and offer to do some work for them, even for no pay to start with. It will teach you a LOT, and you will find out if it really is the career path for you. If you work hard and impress them - who knows, there could...

Really?? And not back to the MET? Never heard of that one..

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

Quite, yes it's all on 2.5mm.

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

This is the thing, I'm not sure if there is any mechanical factors causing an overload every so often when no one is looking at to see what happens!? I could stick it on a C16 MCB and do away with the 13A fuse.

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

I'm not sure if it blows at start up or whilst it's running. The odd thing is this set up has been fine for all the time it has been in (at least 12 months) and only just started giving problems. I know it's not ideal having on a plug perhaps I should wire a dedicated circuit for it see if that...

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

OK Thanks for this. It is an above ground pump. My customer has a company who deal with the pump side of things, so I think I may suggest he get's them in to take a look. He had initially called them about the fact it was blowing fuses and they said to get an electrican to check the motor first...

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

Thanks Bernard. It comes up to speed quickly - sounds perfectly normal in that way. It is pumping water, but I don't think it is anything like the water freezing as it seems to be completely random times it blows fuses. The pump runs (when working normally) every 5-10 minutes for about 1...

When would a 13A fuse blow over a motor overload?

Got a bit of an odd one here. Have a customer with a water pump which is plugged into a socket with a 13A plug. It is controlled by a float switch and pressure switch which operate a contactor which brings on the pump. Pump is 2.2kW 10A FLC He phoned to say it was blowing fuses every so often...

Thanks mate I will have a read through that!

    Motor control through invertor

Cheers Freddo, as I thought regarding the overload protection and paramaters needing to be set. Finding the instructions is going to be the interesting part I think! Do you need a contactor then if using an invertor? Obviously there will be local isolation too. Cheers.

    Motor control through invertor

I have been asked to fit an invertor to a 3 phase motor for speed control. The invertor is currently installed on another motor which is no longer required. The new motor is smaller with a 3.35A FLC and the invertor has a max output of 7.6A. The invertor being used is this one...

    Van racking..

I have led strip all ready around the sliding door. It is fine, but I did put a little blob of sticks like sh*t at the ends to keep it there. I will do the same when I do the roof. I will post more pictures when its done!

    Van racking..

well I was getting fed up with my van being in such a mess, so spent today sorting it out. Built a frame work all out of aluminium and then fitted plastic crates (the same as tesco use to deliver shopping) in as draws to holder various stuff including conduit fittings, accessories, metal boxes...
