    Protecting new screed

Evening chaps, Laid out sand and cement screed yesterday. I know I need to leave it a fair amount of time to cure, but believe I can get on it to build the kitchen etc. What’s a good product to put on the screed to protect it while it’s curing? I though about the plastic floor protection...

    Front dormer permitted development??

Morning guys. I spent a lot of last year fighting with the planning officer regarding our loft conversation application. Basically, despite me asking the guy who drew it to leave the gable end and rear dormer off as it would be PD, he said might as well put it on as we’re putting in an...

    Fire rated downlights led

The downlights I currently use can be covered completely by upto 100mm of insulation but should be at least 50mm from joists. This is all in the manufacturers literature.

Meter box position - regs, guidelines?

No problem with it going to the back of the house. It could even go inside if you wanted to. Be prepared for a nice charge! It will help if you do the digging on your land and provide the ducting. (Must be DNO spec, not the corrugated stuff)

    Fixing wall plate to steel.

No the steel isn’t out of level, it’s just going to be slightly lower than the wall, not enough for a brick course. Seat to top of steel is going to be around 60mm, so with the 47x95 wall plate, need to raise around 10-15mm Thanks guys.

Phone 105 and inform them that you have a flickering supply and an arcing sound coming from the service head. When the engineer turns up, explain to him what’s what. Don’t bother explaining in detail to the call centre. What area are you in? Hoping my phone doesn’t ring right now
