    Simultaneous RCD tripping?

Thanks for the replies. The digital alarm clock plugged into Sockets 1 has malfunctioned since the trip. I could believe a spike could have been the cause. How does a spike present itself to the RCBO/RCD causing it to trip? The RCBOs are single pole, but the RCD sockets are double pole...

    Simultaneous RCD tripping?

Hi folk, I had an unusual electrical issue last night. Any help appreciated to work out what happened. TT earthing system, diagram below. The CU was replaced, I believe, in 2007, and I had some changes made a couple of months ago, described below. At 1:38am this morning both the RCD...

    That worked perfectly. Thanks!

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

Exit Terminator may be an option, thanks! I'll give it a try over the weekend and will report back. I need normally open anyway. The zone settings allow you to set NC or NO. I don't really want to add more sensors to the gate if avoidable, but will consider it if I dont get another solution...

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

I was afraid you'd ask that! The break beam sensor is a safety sensor for some electric gates. I couldn't tap into the sensor directly, as it does not have a simple open/short circuit output. It is a coded output. I have therefore tapped into an LED (via an optoisolator) on the gate control pcb...

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

I've tested this now. The Latch Key zone with "Monitor Only" would work fine. The only snag is I also need it to be a "Quick Response" zone, which isn't available on Latch Key. Is there any way to get the custom zone to Monitor Only, or another zone type that has Quick Response and Monitor...

Thanks Jibbeh, that sounds reasonable - I'll give it a try tomorrow.

    Intruder alarms and home automation

I actually did have an experimental event triggered by the kitchen PIR on a Saturday morning that invoked the text to speech with the words "I'll have a cup of tea and a gently warmed croissant please" I did get the tea, but it wasn't in a cup, and came with a large helping of added earache...

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

Hi all, thanks for the diversion! At the risk of bringing this back on topic, I've been experimenting and have another question. I have the keypads areas set to ABCD, and "Use Keypad Areas" ticked. If I untick "Area A" from my custom chime zone and select another area, then the zone stops...

    Intruder alarms and home automation

They do have a relay module, however the relays they use are only rated at 110VAC. I ended up getting 8 way relay boards with contacts rated at 250VAC from ebay. I did need to modify the relay boards slightly to cope with the open collector output from the Netioms. The inputs are not...

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

Under Areas,Options I have unticked Area B on option 9 Bell and Strobe Output. I have also unticked Area B on the bell output under Outputs,Control Panel, Panel Outputs, 2:Bell SAB. Did I need to do both these? I am not using Area Arm Suites. Thanks for the help.

    Intruder alarms and home automation

I'm using the network relays linked below. They also have a more modular system out now called EMACSYS. I found them very reasonably priced compared with the alternatives. http://www.phaedrusltd.com/acatalog/info_27.html I'm not familiar with the Elk, but did a quick google, and looks very...

    Intruder alarms and home automation

If you already have a home automation system, then you could use any alarm panel that allows you to mimc outputs from inputs. I use outputs on extenders on my Texecom Premier to mimic the PIR and reed contact inputs. These outputs then go to inputs on a network IO board which interfaces into...

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

Thanks, I'll try this tonight. Alarm, are you saying that if this zone is set to guard on area B, and my user is set to only area A, that the bell would sound?

Texecom - How to stop a Chime zone showing up on display?

I have a premier 48, and Wintex. I have a break beam sensor which I have connected into a zone input. The zone is configured as custom, with no Attributes1 or Attributes2 set. Area A is ticked, and so is Chime tone 2. Desired behaviour is to sound a chime whenever the zone goes active. No...

Using old oil tank for rain water harvesting?

We're with Wessex water. I don't have the bill handy, but I believe it worked out at just over £3.50 combined supply and sewerage for 1000L, with supply and sewerage costs about half each. Sewerage is worked out at 95% volume of supply.

Using old oil tank for rain water harvesting?

Tony, I've done something similar to what you are planning with 4 linked 1000 litre IBCs, gutter diverters and a WVO filter bag on the inlet to the IBC. The pump is a £50 boat/motorhome 12v diaphram pump with auto pressure switch. I also have a 1 micron in line filter with the pump, and use a...
