Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

In terms of this video, should I have heating and hot water on to record it or just hot water only?

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Update, replaced the heat exchanger. No difference, boiler just reached temp then declined as normal then wasn’t getting above 49oc despite hot being set to 60oc

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Hmm interesting, hard for me to say without knowing what it should sound like. Would it help if I took a video?

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Nope all very clear in fairness. The pressure sensor was mucky but that was the only sign of dirt in the system. Even draining down from the rads it was pretty clear ...

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

New diverter fitted... sadly same issue still exists :( Before I go spending another not small amount of money on a head exchanger, is there anything else that could be causing this? Or is this really the only other option? Thanks for the help so far :)

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Thanks Ian that makes perfect sense. I've just ordered a diverter valve so fingers crossed that sorts it. Completely unrelated query, but I have noticed the boiler gives of a f.24 low CH pressure reading but when the boiler hits around 1.1 bar which is technically still in the green. I have to...

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Preheat is off for sure. How would I determine if the flow sensor has failed without a fault code? Thanks all for the input so far, it does sound like a diverter valve issue, possibly linked with heat exchanger partially blocked (not sure if or why this would cause the CH Flow to heat up when...

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Thanks seems you’re on to something, with CH off running the hot tap and the CH flow gets hot to touch. What does this indicate? Faulty diverter valve?

Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

Hi all, So for a few months I've been putting up with my hot water no longer being hot- just barely luke warm as frankly I'm not in a position to replace it and it's been working fine up until the NTC sensors were replaced. Now until today theres been nothing obvious about whats happening, say...

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

Thanks I’ll try that this evening. What am would I expect to see when I open the hot tap? No water I presume? So if water comes out it’s the cartridge?

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

Appreciate this may be applicable to typical diyers, but that I am not. Also the ecomax 824/2 is hardly in “room sealed casing” as the bottom is far from sealed or air tight.

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

Thanks! As it happens I tried this last night and CH pipes remained cold/cool so doesn’t seem to be the diverter value. Does this help point to anything else?

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

Anybody have any suggestions? Been lacking on this recently but getting fed up with luke warm showers. For clarification this effects all hot water, not just showers.

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

It’s worked fine for 3 years so it’s an issue that’s just started which I’m trying to identify, not something that never worked which would be limited by its manufacturer specification.

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

Update, it seems to be an issue at full flow. Taps which have a water saving filter in, as well as “small” shower heads seem to reach temp and stay. However larger shower heads that worked fine before, cause the temp to drop. Anyone have any ideas? EDIT: I was wrong, this also effects the taps...

Vaillant 824/2 - Luke warm water

hi all, Have a hot water issue with my Vaillant ecoMAX 824/2 e. (edit, model number updated, originally incorrectly called it an ecotec). Heating works fine, however when you run the hot water you’ll get a short burst of the correct temperature before it going Luke warm. Basically turn the...

Old Vaillant VCW GB 242 ignores Thermostat- always on -help?

Hi all, Took over a property about a year ago with an old Vaillant VCW GB 242, always had a theory the central heating wasn't playing ball. Long story short, last week we replaced the old thermostat and separate time clock which we confirmed isn't working (turning down would have no effect...

Vaillant F.0 fault - NTC open ciruit?

So looking at the manual, I thought I saw a clue... F.0 clearly stays is a "FLOW" NTC fault, only I can't quite work out which of the NTC's relate to flow, as in the same manual, they're just called temperate sensors... I think it's number 6, but that's the one I've replaced today with no difference

Vaillant F.0 fault - NTC open ciruit?

Hi Meldrews, where on the Vaillant website did you find that? I've only found F0.0 relating to NTC faults..? Pressure is stable, I've adapted it between 1, 1.5, and nearly 2 to ensure it wasn't this but it's had no effect. But, if it is pressure sensor related, thats something I'm happy to try...
