    Sky+ and TV wiring

I guess the stacker/destacker units could process the signal coming from the tuner, send them to the other unit encoded in some fashion and then make them reappear on the cables at the LNB end.

    Sky+ and TV wiring

because as mentioned above, the LNB requires a "polarity" to be set by the tuner. If you joined both tuners to one cable, you'd end up with only one polarity available. If you happened to tune into two channels which were on transponders with the same polarity, then it would work fine...

Removal of Electric Shower - Installation of HP/Combi Shower

Use option 1. You dont need to change the MCB either, you can simply put an FCU on the end of the cable with a 3A fuse.

    Sky+ and TV wiring

how does that work with the LNB polarisation signal etc though? arent those supplied as "phantom power" back up the cable? Google suggests the tuner applies 12-14v DC to set horizontal and 15-18v DC to set vertical You cant apply two DC voltages to the same cable.

    Overloaded circuit - trips RCD

Ok so the device thats tripping indicates some current is leaking to earth. This can either be due to a fault, or because some devices naturally leak a small amount and these small amounts are adding up to a high enough level to trip the RCD. Are ALL the socket circuits on that one RCD...

    Problems with LED Panel installation

i wouldnt have thaught a switching psu would care all that much about polarity. Have you temporarily reconnected a pendant to the fitting to ensure it still works?

Independent control of heating in two rooms.

Agreed, i'd use a standard zone valve, as it keeps things nice and simple. Even if you cant get into the floor, you can probably just about squeeze one into the radiator tails. The zone valve also deals with the call for heat, so you dont need to mess around with dual pole wotsits. Your...

Tilt and turn window partially jammed

My brother has managed to break the glazing pane in the UPVC tilt and turn window in his spare room/study. When trying to figure out what happened i realised that when you open the window in tilt mode, it only opens a small amount, maybe 2 inches, before something in the top right corner...

    What you make of this...

Looking at the switch, there used to be two neutrals connected (you can see the cut remains poking out the choc block) and the switched lives have been snipped at the switch plates, so its been connected to something before the since removed. Love the twin and earth strung thru the garden...

Home automation: Installing a relay into a consumer unit

Most residential CU's dont have "spare" sections of din rail that you can use to install random din rail parts. They usually have busbars and things in the way. They also have a narrow opening in the front, which your relay/computer wouldnt fit thru. Much hackery would ensue if you tried...

    Drain/Sewer Problems

Yeh i was thinking more that a cracked or slightly dislodged pipe was forming an "edge" which stuff was catching on and collecting up, rather than the pipe having completely collapsed in. Its old clay pipe. The old dear next up the row from my neighbour seemingly gets carers in, and the...

    Drain/Sewer Problems

For the last few months we've had ongoing issues with our drains. Just before Christmas the neighbour was having his toilet backing up, but we had no issues. After christmas our toilet started acting odd, not backing up but "sucking" and emptying itself when flushed. Shortly thereafter the...

    Dangerous Chinese LED Par cans!

I suspect the issue is that eBay requires the buyer to stump up costs for returning the item, and in exchange will provide a full refund including the original shipping costs, once the seller has confirmed its return. This means the OP will have to spend £many in postage to send the item back...
