Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Hi yes the 2 vertical pipes in pic 1 are labelled heat and hot water, both have motorised valves on them. The vent and feed can be seen in pic 2 right of pump and look like they go down and into back of boiler, just out of shot, which I'm standing right in front of.

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Thanks for your replies. Just checked the junction between feed and vent and there is a weak magnetic attraction there when I put a magnet close to it, so guess its junked up a bit in there. Not sure how the plumber will reposition the pump though, vent pipe is 5cm from external wall going...

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Could connecting the feed to the vent fix this problem, even if the pump is before the vent? Thanks

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Thanks for your response. The pump was in a poor state, it made a lot of noise, when the engineer inspected it was full of crud. The system wasn't power flushed, he advised that the magnetic filter should be sufficient due to the return pipe to the boiler being hot when the new pump was fitted...

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Hi after some advice. Just had a new pump and magnetic filter fitted to heating system due to several rads either cold or not getting up to temperature. A faulty pump was diagnosed. Rads now hot but hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank. The pump is on setting 1. The pump is located...

    Burning Wires

Thanks for the replies, with the unit out I will probably tidy up the connections first and see if that fixes the issue and then go to the engineer if no good. Could a faulty heating unit draw too much current and cause the same problem do you think?

    SMEG Dishwasher burning wires

Hello, I don't know if anyone can help me with this problem; last night when the dishwasher was on, the electricity in the house tripped and I noticed a plastic burning smell coming from the dishwasher, so turned it off. This morning took the side panel off the machine and started it up again...

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

The pipes look standard 15mm to me. I'm really not sure about the system, been in the house since Feb and no manuals for the CH. Just had another look around the boiler and found a small label which says 'Greenstar F8 30CDI Regular ERP 7731600102' (Needed my missus's glasses to read that)...

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

No I didn't put cleanser or inhibitor in, though I guess I should probably do this. I was thinking about getting someone in to perform a powerflush of the system, not sure how much that costs, or if its just better to drain the system myself as you suggest?

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

Just to report back. Took the rad off today, took into garden and blasted it out with hose, there was some gunk in there, some black stuff, but not loads and after a couple of blasts with the hose water came out clean. The rad is a double panel rad with two bleed valves, one of which was...

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

Just done that, all rads cooling down but the two that do not heat up, no change, including the one with both valves fully open. one of the rads in lounge stays hot... probably a TRV issue not known before!

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

Ok difficult to determine the exact model of the boiler, its a floor mounted 85cm tall 30KW boiler with Greenstar on the label, other than that I cannot see any further information, there is an instrument panel that opens up and and a couple of green illuminated numbers than sit around 60, but...

    Lockshield valve hot, Radiator cold

Good question, moved into the house in Feb this year and do not remember them working to be honest. The system is a MegaFlo system, which I believe is an unvented system. There is a small tank in the loft but assume this is to keep the central heating system topped up?
