    VCL that doesn't block sound

The imagery! ... Good plan though! As I said - know nothing about vapour barriers so there could have been some weird and wonderful option out there but yeah, if there's not I'll just see what happens... Thank you ☺️

    VCL that doesn't block sound

That's tickled me - clearly the way I've made it sound does seem like it'll look crap. However, I've got a vent cover to go over the front of the hole, which I think looks nice :-) just looking to see if installing a vapour barrier on the inside of the cover is a viable option. Any ideas of a...

    VCL that doesn't block sound

Hiya, thank you for reading this :-) I have no experience with vapour control layers at all so just after some guidance from Ye Knowledgeable Folks, please? I want to imprison my Alexa in a hole in the bathroom (already checked on the electrics side of this on another thread) and it was...

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

That's a good idea too - I'll have a look for a vapour barrier that doesn't block sound. Thank you!! :-)

Plasterboard - dot & dab vs. plaster on wall?

Sorry, I know this is an old post but I was just wondering what this technique is called, please? I want to look it up...

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

Lol!! She's a vile witch who never does what I ask her to and she makes my blood boil at least once a week... Maybe I just want her punished, honestly!!

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

Hm... Listening to you guys I'm wondering how sensible this idea is. I'll do it anyway as an experiment and report back. I'll possibly be very sad that I've destroyed my Alexa!!

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

I'm honestly not sure - I'll monitor the situation carefully for the first 6 months and then check quarterly. There's a lot of insulation on the other side of the wall behind the plasterboard at the back of the hole. I've got a powerful fan in the bathroom and we always shower with the window...

    Advice on rubber seals, please

Hiya, this isn't a plumbing question but I thought you folks might be the best people to ask? I'm trying to secure a vent cover with a 3cm deep rectangular back box into a wooden frame on a wall, the frame is also 3cm deep. I can make the wooden frame and width and height. I'd like the vent to...

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

Thank you :-) The trunking would sit just behind the plaster skim but would be within 150mm of the corner of the room. I've just had a new consumer unit put in a couple of months ago so I'm assuming every circuit coming off it will have RCD protection but I'll go and check! It'll be powered by a...

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

I think so - I'll do a dry run first. I shall report back on that one!

Are you allowed to have an appliance plugged into a socket in another room permanently? Ie. Alexa in bathroom, socket in loft?

Hiya, after some guidance, please :-) Would it be ok with building regs to put an Alexa in zone 3 of the bathroom if she's in a hole, high up on the wall, behind a grill that is screwed on to the wall and can't be taken off the wall without a screwdriver? The plan is to have the alexa wire...

Theory question for a plaster expert, please!

Thank you :-) Yeah, I knew the reason for ensuring the plasterboard is fully sealed but I just didn't understand why the suggestion was never made that people could fully coat the back of the board or wall in adhesive as it would have also acted as a parge coat, wouldn't it? So a two for one...
