    Abu's on his way hooray

The guy was an illegal immigrant, yet he milked the system for a couple of million. What does the "illegal" part of illegal immigrant actually mean?

    Warning light

The trouble for DIY motorists using fault code readers is most don't realise that a fault code is just the first step in diagnosing and fixing the problem. A garage will start with a fault code reader, and then possibly use a multimeter and oscilloscope to test the signal coming from the suspect...

Pads and discs, makes and sources...

Need to do pads and discs all round on my Focus soon, there seems to be a fairly wide selection of makes and prices. If I bought all Pagid stuff from ECP it'd cost around £150 with their current 30% discount code. Are there other makes/suppliers who offer better value? Any makes to avoid?

    code reader

I use an Autel Maxiscan MS509, cost about £60. Does everything I need. Better to buy through a trusted retail channel as there are fakes out there.

    Damp problem

Just noticed the corner of an upstairs bedroom is dripping wet. Black mould is forming above and below on the skirting. Its a 1930's semi, no insulation in walls, so I'm guessing its the temperature differential between room and exterior of wall that's causing it. There is a vent on the wall...

    tips on glazing a greenhouse

Panes first, clips second... I have no idea, which is why I'm asking! The instructions go something like "Glaze the greenhouse, start with roof, then work up from bottom". So if you've never faced it before it could be slightly puzzling. As for z clips... I was kinda wondering if they were...

    tips on glazing a greenhouse

I'm putting up a B&Q aluminium + glass greenhouse, have got to the glazing stage and am finding it a bit intimidating. I've figured how the spring clips go in the frame but they're pretty tight and i'm kinda scared to exert too much force on the glass in case it shatters. I titted around for 15...

Options for boxing in a bath

Yeah, that's why I've put it off for a couple of years, well hate to disappoint but it turned out alright. You wouldn't notice the cut bit, as the panel is pretty curvy. Another job out of the way, until next sunday no doubt :-/

Options for boxing in a bath

I think you're right, cool I'll go down that route. Last time I tried raising it, it wouldn't budge, guess I'll have a more determined bash at it tomorrow. There's also a glass shower panel that'll need shifting up which could get messy with the existing drill holes, but that's another story...

    Priming an oil filter

All the engines Ive done it on, the filter attaches to the side of the engine, so its parallel with the ground. Even with it 25% full Ive never spilt a drop, its easy.

Options for boxing in a bath

Heh, I like simple solutions. The wall is tiled down to the bath though, isn't it going to end up looking a mess when I seal along the edge, the bath will be standing proud of the tiles? I have tried raising it in-situ but obviously its stuck fast.

    Priming an oil filter

I used to fill a new filter with oil before fitting to ensure oil flow would start as fast as possible after an oil change to prevent wear, but I don't bother these days. Was I wasting time doing this or is it worthwhile?

Options for boxing in a bath

The guy who tiled our bathroom and fitted the bath made a cock-up - the bath was fitted too low, so the plastic side and end panels won't fit. I've considered shaving a bit off the bottom of the panels but I'd have to take too much off and it would look a mess. So short of ripping all the tiles...
