    Ebus and boiler modulation

I actually have the eBus adapter shield (https://adapter.ebusd.eu/v5/index.en.html) I bought a while back as I was considering doing some read-only monitoring at a minimum on my Vaillant boiler but: 1) There's no way it's being touched at all in the depths of winter 2) I have no other existing...

    Shelly for Immersion Heater?

You could use a bog standard smart relay to drive a contactor which then switches the load, it'll need a little wiring and some kind of enclosure though.

    Electrician Drilled possible AIB

Unless you used the hoover to vacuum up fibres in the cupboard I'd not be too concerned

Loft legs or new timber frame

For loft legs installed at the recommended spacing I don't see how the point loading fears work out, if it were a concern I don't think the joists I was standing on would be able to support my weight either.

    Bathroom light trackdown issue.

The switch will probably be fine once it's not getting wet, the water is the bit that needs to be "replaced"

As opposed to what? Only paying half the council tax?

    Electricity tripped

Whatever you were doing with the Smart meter display at the time is a complete red herring as it's a read-only display device, it doesn't make the meter itself "do" anything. It's far far more likely to be something on the circuit, are there any hardwired appliances downstairs that may not have...

    Replacing Drayton digital RF1

The auction you've linked to is so like the Screwfix one it even has Schneider Electric branding on the back of the receiver, looks brand new

Neighbor and seller both have built over right of way(ROW)

ROW/Possession very much can be/are covered. My solicitor insisted on an indemnity insurance for the tiny 30cm flying freehold for my place. On the plus side the flying freehold is what caused the first Buy-to-let bidder on the property to withdraw, they couldn't get a mortgage on it, so it can...

    Replacing Drayton digital RF1

Is is the receiver that's failed or the transmitter? Those receivers derive their power via a couple of capacitors that can start to fail where the receiver will half-work, It'll look like it's received the signal but hasn't enough oomph to close the relay contacts. It was such a common fault...

Can just a speaker in intercom panel be replaced?

The furthest holes round the speaker look like the PCB (and the back of the speaker) have been somewhat open to the elements. From the latest pic it looks like two of the axial blue electrolytic capacitors might be in poor nick if functional, I'd be tempted to replace those and check anything...

Low load, on a high amp circuit (Ed.)

They're really not expensive or uncommon, especially at 16A, I've bought some decent ones from Onecall/CPC for the princely sum of 3-4 pounds or so. "Much" is pushing it, the recharge times on 3K/5K UPSes tends to be long (in the region of several hours at a minimum), compared to the usual...

    Cat5 what router?

The smart trainers are almost certainly 2.4G only devices so N/AC/AX won't make much difference to them. For most home setups where it's just being used for Internet the broadband is normally the limiting factor so Wifi 6/AX doesn't gain you a lot, unless it's the same price as AC just go with...

Thermal imaging camera to detect cold spots in the home

I have a tiny cheap one that connects to my phone, the CPUs in phones are so powerful and the screens so good that it does make some sense to offload that bit of the device, the one issue is that you occasionally have compatibility issues (my older phone didn't work). If you can make use of a...

How to control an immersion heater (Ed.)

75kWh is still 3.1kW of average load! I'd not be waiting on a smart meter, get a clamp meter monitor such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156550491356 and start eliminating items/circuits one by one.

    Slab loft insulation question

The fire aspect isn't a concern for polystyrene but what it does to PVC is. Another concern with insulation and power cabling is any non-lighting electrical cabling in the loft, if it's covered by insulation it can't carry as much current, are the ring mains and other electricals fed from above?

    Insulating corrugated tin roof

For a rented garage it seems a bit pointless. It won't/can't be heated and won't have lots of sources of moisture in it. Why's the roof so wet? Leaking?

    Replace Transformer in bathroom mirror

Cheapy cheap 10w 12v led driver, easily replaced but you might have to pay careful attention to the dimensions of the replacement if you want to use the same mounting points

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

Because a load of people don't give a crap, there's endless numbers of installs where the boiler's too big with load of stuff set to defaults as it easiest to just sling a new boiler in and be on their way without bothering to look at anything else.

    Eucalyptus Tree

My dad planted one in his front garden that went up like mad, they can bend *a lot* so I'd not worry about the fact it's bending necessarily. We disposed of the offcuts (and eventually the tree) by burning in a bonfire if you're able to have one, went up like nobody's business.
