    2 cut-out fuses

No these are all two phases (so three wires) fed from the standard 4 wire overheads These houses would have had 8-10 storage heaters fitted, so would have been too much load for the one 100a fuse

    2 cut-out fuses

I think more information might help in this situation, I mean if the OP lives in a detached house with some distance between neighbours then it is unlikely that the second fuse ever served a neighbour My money is on it being an old Dc supply that has been converted and is now just two phases...

    2 cut-out fuses

I think electric vehicles will cause the DNOs a headache for years to come!

    2 cut-out fuses

I agree with you, and the three phase and single phase cables are all 35mm now for services, so I see no issue with loading whether It is single or three phase My main point was, if WPD deem my supply to be ‘looped’ when technically it isn’ t by the traditional standards, whether they would do...

    2 cut-out fuses

Consac is Concentric Cable with Solid aluminium conductor. Seen here, it’s a three core paper cable with an aluminium N/E outer and a PVC oversheath. It was a cheaper cable that PILC which was typically lead with copper cores. There is a special depth saw to strip it live (as in the...

    2 cut-out fuses

From my own house. I live in a terrace of 5 houses (ex council) and have a three phase cutout into the one meter box which serves my house and the neighbours either side. Only links are in the single phase cutouts in the ‘meter’ box. So if one of the neighbours were to blow a cutout fuse...

    2 cut-out fuses

Probably used to be a looped supply to next door. Or even, looking at the age of the cutout, an old dc supply, that has been converted to Ac, and at some point new fuse holders fitted

    Pressure relief valve

No you can’t. And you also can’t do this work yourself. An unvented cylinder requires a building control notification

    What cable do i need?

Take a photo of the boiler wiring before you start! Just in case

    Two electric boilers in tendem

Regardless, you will need to notify the DNO of the proposed load, as this exceeds the usual agreed supply capacity. Remember that they can disconnect customers who fail to adhere to the terms and conditions set out And to run the two boilers in tandem, you will need a low loss header. You can’t...

    Electricity Supply to Garage

That was my understanding. I have done a few EV points and usually people paid around £150 and this was for the installation costs, usually a maximum length of cable and connection to an existing db or fitting a separate consumer unit, with the charge points provided under the grant. Though I...

    Electricity Supply to Garage

How would the charging point work? I would still need a supply to the garage which would be expensive DNO for a new supply or a trench from the house, which has to run down the pavement or the rear access

    Electricity Supply to Garage

The rear access is private, but shared between the houses and the front is a public footpath

    Electricity Supply to Garage

Lighting mainly, otherwise light tools and chargers, potentially a freezer though I can possibly make room in the house for that. So would be fairly infrequent. Though useful, particularly in winter when I get back from work and need to load the van for the next day

    Electricity Supply to Garage

How did I know someone would suggest that! This is cheaper! https://www.screwfix.com/p/masterplug-hdct4513bq-4-xd-13a-4-gang-45m-cable-reel-240v/47295 Or run a cable through next doors loft!

    Electricity Supply to Garage

Have just recently moved into a new house, and would like to get electricity into the garage, though not absolutely essential would be useful. Problem is the house is mid terrace and the garage is on the end of the terrace. I have had a quote for Western Power to install a supply (around 10m of...

    Supply 3ph to my garage.?

I had similar with EON, getting a single phase meter changed for a three phase on an existing three phase supply. It cost £75 which was basically to cover the cost of changing the meter, the standing charge and unit rate stayed the same.

    2 x 15kw boilers on single phase ??

Something to consider here, just because you have an 80 amp fuse does not give you free reign to load the supply up to 80amps. When the supply was put in, it would have had an agreed capacity. The 80amp fuse is there just to protect the DNO equipment. If your additional load causes problems on...

As a client, what is the appropriate course of action?

Sorry, but the op clearly stated that the holes needed to be bigger for the new lights. It’s just that the electrician has made a balls up of enlarging the holes.

    Removing teleswitch

No as they moved the meter whilst installing a new supply. But to make it simple they just didn’t move the teleswitch and binned it
