Some flexis come with fibre washers, rubber ones are maybe easier to use as long as you understand they only need to be nipped up!! You should be able to get half inch rubber washers from B&Q.

Ring your plumber, he should check it then if Vaillant are needed it would be nice of him to ring them for you, I would but I'm just that nice :lol: I't def the boiler?? Not pipes expanding with heat?

If using pushfit, make sure you clean the pipe well and cut it using a pipe slice to give a clean cut as opposed to a hacksaw which will catch on the pushfit rubber seals and p i s s water everywhere

Well why did you pick him to do the work?? Was he a cheap 'fit n forget' monkey? Not having a go at you, but if a new installation is not fit for purpose.. the installer should be back straight away to sort it. How could he have commissioned the boiler correctly if it's not working? Or...
