Are the rubber ones the same as the washers you use in flexible shower hoses?
Or are the ones for flexible tap connectors thicker?
Some flexis come with fibre washers, rubber ones are maybe easier to use as long as you understand they only need to be nipped up!! You should be able to get half inch rubber washers from B&Q.
Its not my main field, but I prefer to use the fibre washers with the mating faces smeared with silicone and done up to the appropriate tightness.
I find the rubber washers tend to compress/soften after time.
But on pumps I prefer the rubber ones as they do not seize up as the fibre ones do so the joint can be undone later.
