    Drilling holes through lintel

Thanks. We haven't started building yet, on the plan it says: "Check cavity width. Catnic CG70/100 or similar."

    Drilling holes through lintel

I will be moving my boiler into an extension and would like to hide the pipes in the ceiling void which would involve drilling through the metal lintel to pass 4 x 22mm pipes. Is this permitted? The lintel spans a 3.0m gap with good support at each end.

    Manufacturers of double glazing

I've chosen the same small firm that fitted the last WERU windows 30 odd years ago. They did a good job then.

    Manufacturers of double glazing

Thanks very much to all who have posted helpful comments. I have ordered triple glazing, with frames by Rehau. It is only 8% dearer than A class double glazing. To be fitted next month.

    Manufacturers of double glazing

It is very difficult to glean accurate information about the u-values of different makes of double glazing. I am in the process of replacing my 35 year old windows with the much better modern ones. I have got quotes from various firms, all very similar in price, but offering different...

    Conservatory host wall plasterboard

I have a 5.5m x 3.0m plasterboarded host wall in my conservatory which has a 1.0m vertical crack between a joint, from the top to the corner of the access door. The crack appears when cold, and disappears when the temperature is warmer, as with most conservatories, the temp. varies widely. The...

    Zopim

Something called Zopim has arrived on my new Win 7 computer. I don't want it whatever it is, but can find no information on the internet as to how to remove it. How did it get there anyway? I am not someone who browses dodgy sites. :?

    Space saver/shallow basin trap?

Thanks for the swift reply Nige, looking at the pics of the HEPVo, it looks as though it screws onto the basin waste. Does the 90 degree adapter (cant find pics of one) come off the basin and then connect the HepVO into it? Sorry if I appear dense. (Its coz I am!)

    Space saver/shallow basin trap?

Hi guys, long time no speak. Happy New Year! I am converting my small downstairs cloakroom, 70's style, into a modern one with 2 built in units, in doing so I am hiding my block salt water softener in the basin cabinet with the floor cut out. The basin trap has to go in the same cabinet, as...

Radiator with twin entry in 15mm

Doh! Of course they do, I should have asked for twin entry close together.

Radiator with twin entry in 15mm

This is more in hope than anticipation. Are there any rads avlbl with both entry and exit on one side? The current one is on a 15mm system and has to be moved, and I would like not to have to conceal a pipe in the floor if possible, so entry and exit on one side would help. TIA

    Boiled water resin softener

Yes I have done a fair bit of research on this, but am unable to find a definitive name for the type of granules I am after. Clearly it is possible to obtain them in smaller amounts than a pallet, as here : http://www.ionexchangeresins.co.uk/purolite-ion-exchange-resins/cat_3.html, but which one...

    Boiled water resin softener

For many years I have been using an under sink filter to provide softened water for boiling to prevent limescale in kettles etc. Does anyone know what the resin granules are, as I would like to buy in bulk to reduce costs. Research indicates that they are called ion-exchange resin, but there...

    Ideal Isar overpressure leak

Yes , I suppose re-reading my OP they may think that. However as I posted elsewhere, this boiler has been fitted by a gas-safe engineer, and I am merely flushing and refilling the CH system. Surely not a job only to be undertaken by qualified plumbers? However IF that is the reason for the...
