Painting satinwood over old gloss - losing my mind!

Top layers off off off and base layer sanded to a smooth finish. I hate Dulux paint. I recently painted a big external staircase for someone and used Bedec aqua advanced primer/ undercoat and then gloss. What a dream to paint with ,but I followed advance CE from elsewhere and made sure I kept...

Using a bath shower screen with a shower tray

My Dad would never manage to stand up off that with no arms, plus neither of the walls are solid, so would need to be strengthened. We ( they) can't cope with major work as apart from everything else, it's the only toilet in the house and it's a small bungalow. We need a solution that doesn't...

Painting satinwood over old gloss - losing my mind!

In the process of skimming and redecorating our staircase. I want to use a waterbased eggshell on the wood at the side of the staircase (not sure what they're called) I was going to sand manually, but ended up using the paint scraper attachment on my multi -tool (careful or you'll take wood...

    Vertical radiator?

It seemed strange because the main photo shows it as a vertical radiator (as you would expect from the W600 x H900), but the others show what looks like a horizontal radiator. As I said, we've never used them. Maybe I should have said we've never used them and have no intention of using them.

    Vertical radiator?

Used that famous search engine to search for "high output vertical radiators" We've never bought anything from Victorian Plumbing (or Victoria Plumb etc), but this came up in the results and I was surprised to see a standard style vertical radiator Anyone care to comment? :)...

    Warm batten fixings trouble

we tried using concrete screws to fix a door frame into brick. Everyone raved about them, but they were pretty rubbish. We ended up using Fischer hammer fixings , which is what we used to fix 3x 2 battens onto the brick to friction fit PIR boards between. TIP (excuse if this is obvious)- make...

    repairing concrete door threshold

Ok. So paint the room side and top of the metal cill with the bitumen paint? The finished floor level will actually be about 20 mm below the top of the threshold. Bit of a pain, but we had no choice because we needed to get the floor to the same level as the kitchen floor in the doorway where...

    repairing concrete door threshold

Cheers Woody Is screed sand the same as sharp sand? There's a DPM under the concrete floor, but the floor is slightly (about 10mm) below the external DPC level so after heavy rain we used to sometimes get a bit of damp in a couple of places at the very bottom on one external wall. Not helped...
