    Brake parts brands

Always gives me a headache trying to choose discs and pads for my cars! In reality most of the big players are ok but what do you favour? last set I bought were pagid from euro car parts and to be honest the quality is ok but I’ve heard as they are now the sole distributor for these quality has...

Yes it can be good, I insured my 1991 Mx5 for £100, came back down to earth quickly though when the £400 tax was due!

Tool chests, who are the good brands?

The Halfords industrial range are ok, now called advanced I believe but well priced and offers are available throughout the year. Mostly around bank holidays I find, bag a trade card and get discount too if you have one of the listed trades or a family member does.

Blue smoke vw golf mk6 gtd

It's a diesel so what is your mileage like usage wise? Failed dpf regens can cause the oil level to increase which if not monitored can lead to disaster.

Cat converter and Lamda sensor cleaner

Won’t do any harm to add a tin of forte system cleaner, fill the tank up with Tesco momentum 99 too at the same time. Worth doing now and again.

    Paint repair

A good flowing wax designed for cavities will drive it out. I don’t really rate Waxoyl, there are far better products such as Dinitrol and Bilt hamber available. I have seen thicker type coatings used on car sills so it may not be filler on yours.

    Replacement Battery

Recently bought an Exide from Tayna as it was more reasonably priced, I’m sure it will be ok they are a known decent brand.

    Paint repair

Difficult to blend that yourself, probably better to let a bodyshop paint the entire sill. If your not bothered then just just prep and paint yourself, it can be easier on a sill if you have a definitive line to mask to.

    MX 5 laid up

I have some interlocking rigid plastic type tiles I managed to bag from a factory closure. very easy to lay and take trolley jack, axle stand weight with ease. A bit slippery when wet is my only gripe with them, not sure of the brand sorry.

    MX 5 laid up

I've always had garage queens and have not done anything but do try to drive it on a nice dry day all year round. You just have to in my opinion, much better for it. Nothing better than roof down on a crisp fine day.

    superb 1.8tsi dsg

Quite a lot of Vag petrol engines have a drink problem, not great when you get it home and find this out really so be careful. I prefer the common rail diesels but these are not without their problems especially if your not doing the mileage.

Polo TDI glow plug flashing light.

Glow plug light flashing is an indication of a management fault too so read the codes first. Normally related to egr system in my experience on Vag cars but could be anything, not normally associated with glow plug failure.

New french door - slight frame movement normal?

Just Bumping this for you as we are currently arguing with our door installer with a similar problem. He claims all plastic frames move, I claim BS. in my eyes the frame should be securely fixed as you will never be able to final finish the wall.

    New front door problems

I'm sorry I forgot to respond to this. The old timber was starting to rot but I'm sure it could have been fixed, we just decided we wanted to fit something and forget. What a mistake that was. We are still at a stalemate with the company, we dont want the product so it will inevitably have to...
