    Damp issue/Paint peeling....tiling?

I recently renovated my kitchen. I put a mist coat on the bare plaster that was behind the kitchen cabinets and tiles. In the last few weeks it has started peeling off in a small area. The rest seems fine. This wall is between me and my neighbours house. I did have a bit of damp in the corner...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Thanks, well its just the gutters on the front of the house which seem to go into the sewage or some underground pipework. And then the one on the back which I posted. The neighbour did say hers went into the sewage, but she could be wrong. Maybe I'll ask her if I can have a closer look

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Yeah I'll have to do a bit of digging. I don't know if all the houses were built at exactly the same time. I'm one house away from the end of terrace and the last two are very different and definitely newer. I have t seen any inspection chamber, but I'm not sure what it looks like!?

    Neat silicone between kitchen worktops?

Thanks, yeah I was debating whether to take the chamfer off, but I only have a circular saw, and I didn't want to risk messing it up with a power plane. It's veneered too. So I chose to leave it! Not sure it was the best idea Ok a two part filler, I'll look into that

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Thanks, it's quite rare that I need water in such a small garden, the rain is generally enough!

    Neat silicone between kitchen worktops?

I've butted my kitchen worktops together, they are bolted and glued, with some wood coloured sealant. There is a tiny chamfer, so now there's a very small dip between the worktops as you can see in the photo. This will get dirty and collect stuff over time so I'd like it flush. I thought I'd...

Advice for my first tiling job, small bathroom

Thanks yeah I just ordered a 10mm U notched trowel. The tiles fit left to right, but yes I have to decide which end to have a half tile, door or window end, or as you say cut both to make it symmetrical. But honestly on a narrow room I wonder if this does look better, or maybe looks worse as...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Ok thanks thats interesting. It must have been like that forever. Its a good few metres from the house, and down a couple of steps so Im guessing this is safe enough to not affect the house? I had subsidence issues a while ago from a leaking drain so I'm paranoid!

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Thanks, this is all new to me. I only just learnt about the soaraway box from you! I could dig a soakaway box in if it would be helpful. Do you think it needs to be that size minimum?

Advice for my first tiling job, small bathroom

Fair enough, I might have a couple of bits lying around. Won't do any harm. But I can feel absolutely no movement when sitting on the edge of the bath :)

Advice for my first tiling job, small bathroom

The bath is steel so it's completely solid as it is! It's Bette too, one of the best brands

Advice for my first tiling job, small bathroom

Hi, I've layed No More Ply on my small bathroom floor ready for tiling. The sub floor was not perfect despite my best efforts, as it's old floor boards. I called No More Ply and they said just use more of the mega strength adhesive and it will expand to fill any small gaps. The NMP went down...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

I took off the soil stack to replace it, and then found the wall was a mess. Now I'm planning to get external wall insulation. The previous soil stack was a mess, but was set up basically correctly as you say. I'm more wondering about the gutter that ends up just going into soil in my garden...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Hi, I'm trying to sort out the back of my terracedhterraced Victorian houseahouse garden. As you can see in the photos, the soil stack ends up just going directly into the ground, where I imagine it bends away from the house and meets the sewage pipe that the neighbours say run horizontally...

Subsidence 12 years ago, House insurance confusion...

Hi everyone, so I managed to get insurance with Lloyds. They said on the phone it shouldn't matter that the Certificate of Structural Adequacy was in the last owners name. Although the certificate says it can not be relied on by anyone but the owner at the time. Then I got a reply from...

Subsidence 12 years ago, House insurance confusion...

I've just had a surprisingly good quote just from using Lloyds online, £154 a year. The cheapest I got from any comparison site was £240 and that was with Admiral who I know are meant to be no good. The Lloyds quote is cheaper, but seems better, with higher priced single items etc. So I'm quite...
