    Push-wire connectors for non-servicable locations

Am I right in thinking Wago style push-wire connectors are acceptable to put in non-serviceable locations? I need to extend the tail of an underfloor heating element inside a cavity wall.

Source for Wago blocks - Farnell

You know, I think one of the things I like about using Wago blocks is that it feels like playing with adult Lego. Except the sets are a lot harder, come with no instructions and if you get it wrong, you die.

Order from CPC arrived - really impressed with the speed and service but the packaging was insane. Each connector was individually wrapped in plastic!

Bosch, Neff, Siemens - any difference in reliability?

Yes indeed - my perception also. It seems that it's always better to go for the Bosch in these cases, simply because they tend to have the most features for the price. In this fridge/freezer series the Bosch is typically priced £100 cheaper, with identical features to the Neff. The Siemens is...

Bosch, Neff, Siemens - any difference in reliability?

So Bosch, Neff and Siemens are actually identical products now. They don't even try to be subtle about it, they are using virtually identical model numbers, not to mention identical products: NEFF KA3902I20G AMERICAN FRIDGE FREEZER Siemens KA90IVI20G American Style Fridge Freezer Bosch...

What pipe fitting for shower outlet elbow?

Well spotted ;) the valve is an electronic one just under the tap connector at the bottom left of the picture. Yes I share your concerns but I bought a well known brand and hope for the best! Luckily it can all be accessed from the other side of the partition if worst comes to worst.

What pipe fitting for shower outlet elbow?

One problem I’m going to have is that because the stud walls are so shallow (5cm), the outlet sticks too far out even when fully screwed in... Can I just hacksaw off half an inch of the outlet thread? It will still have plenty to bind on.

What pipe fitting for shower outlet elbow?

No leaks first time! Thanks for the guidance gents. (Excuse the **** poor soldering) Just one last question- obviously now I’ve got to replace the plasterboard and tile it, do you leave the outlet in place and tile around it, or would you remove it and screw it back in after...

What pipe fitting for shower outlet elbow?

Lol thanks. So next rookie question - how does this seal? I was expecting it to have a rubber washer in like a tap connector.

What pipe fitting for shower outlet elbow?

What pipe fitting should you use for an outlet elbow like this? Should it go on a tap connector? The instructions just say “connect pipework with an appropriate adapter (not supplied)” Which isn’t very helpful.

I was not trying to steal your thunder ;) Just came across it on my Google searches and thought it was worth sharing. You are right, CPC (despite also being owned by Farnell!) is even cheaper. Although I get a £2.50 handling charge when I order - perhaps you have an upgraded account.

Width of cable safe-zones in walls created by sockets

Hmm, so here's the situation, I'm redoing the electrics ready for a new kitchen, the cable in question is the 6mm T+E (in orange on diagram below). The feed from the CU to the oven isolator on the South wall already exists, but I need to get 6mm around to the North wall for the hob. I want to...

Width of cable safe-zones in walls created by sockets

To clarify, it will be clipped to Thermalite, then plasterboarded over (dot and dab).

I found this useful so I thought I'd share this - Farnell offer Wago connectors on a single-item basis at prices equivalent to bulk purchases from most trade retailers. Delivery is free but there is a £4.74 (inc VAT) 'processing fee' on every order - so you need to order a few to make it...

Width of cable safe-zones in walls created by sockets

Is there an official standard for the exact width of the safe-zone created on a wall by the presence of a visible accessory like a socket? Is it the exact width of the socket? If so - is it the width of the socket facia or the back-box? Ultimately my ask is: if I have existing sockets in a...

No - I'm just trying to find method in the madness. :)

    Wiring for induction hob

I assume they do it to indemnify themselves from claims against electrical malfunction of the shower unit. If the shower malfunctions and opens the shower valve while you are out of the house, they will just say "it should have been isolated at the time as per the manual"

Can you use brass compression joints directly onto plastic pipe?

By 'plain insert' do you mean one without a rubber o-ring on the exterior?
