    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

No. The cover wasn't left off. I was just saying the cover was removed for a service when I first moved in.

    Vaillant diverter valve Improved design?

Because more people are likely to see it and answer as a question in the main forum.

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

So would you advise that I ignore the boiler manufacturers recommendation? If you read the literature for X400 it actually says to circulate it for a minimum of 2 hours or until satisfactory performance is restored. I didn't really have any performance issues. Are you actually here to help or...

    Vaillant diverter valve Improved design?

I've just had to order a new diverter valve for my Vaillant Ecotec. The original part PN: 178978 has been superseded by PN: 0020132682. It has a different motor and the kit comes with a wiring adapter for this. Does anybody know if the new part is an improved design?

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

When I checked the manual it says to leave cleaners in the system for maximum of 24 hours. I ran the CH for hours and also ran the DHW for at least an hour. To be fair the system wasn't that dirty and the radiators didn't have cold spots. When I drained it only a few black bits of crap came...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

The diverter valve has started playing up again so I've ordered a new one. I managed to get a new one for £70. The part number of 178978 has been superceded by 0020132682. I'm hoping it's an improved design. It has a different motor and comes with an adaptor for the wiring.

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

I'll go with X100 then. It's a good price at Screwfix. I've been a bit naughty really and run with no inhibitor for a little while as I've still got one last room to do with a radiator to change. I was going to put inhibitor in when I was all done but after these recent problems I'll dose it...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

Just one last question. After I've flushed out the X400 I was going to put X100 in. Is X100 a good product or is there better on the market?

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

I just wound the temp dial to the max stop then removed the dial and got about another 8th of a turn out of the thermostatic valve behind it. It's nice and hot now!

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

Good information. Thanks for that. It looks like I'm worrying for no reason then. The main reason I want to increase the DHW is for the shower. I have a Grohe thermostatic bar type. I like a really hot shower. I've just replaced the cartridge thinking it was faulty but it wasn't. I'm...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

The cover has been removed before by a BG engineer when I first moved in. When I reinstalled it I made sure it was secured on the 2 lower clips and have reinstalled the M6 screw at the bottom of the boiler cover. I understand your concern but there are some idiots in the trade as well. When I...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

There is an FAQ at the top of the forum telling you how to pressurize the pressure vessel. This involves removing the front cover does it not?? If it really is such a big no no to remove the front cover then why is the FAQ page on this forum telling you do so? If you disagree with it that...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

I played around with the diverter valve and it is no longer diverting DHW into the CH system. The radiators remain stone cold even after running the bath tap for 10 mins. I also pressurised the pressure vessel as it was empty. I put the X400 into the towel rad as it has a plug/bung on top so...

    Vaillant Ecotec 824 DHW temperature

I have a Vaillant Ecotec 824 combi and the DHW temp maxes out at around 50 degrees even if I turn the DHW temp up to the max of 65 degrees on the controller. Is this normal? I have just put some sentinel X400 in the system to see if this will help. The boiler is 7/8 years old but the...

Heating coming on with hot water but only on bath tap and shower

I call it a sink. During my testing I have left the kitchen tap and bathroom sink tap running for long periods of time and the DHW does not divert into the CH. Also the water from the bath/shower is only ever warm it is never hot. The kitchen/bathroom sink water is always hot and remains hot.

Heating coming on with hot water but only on bath tap and shower

Why does it only do it on the bath tap and shower though? The kitchen tap and bathroom sink tap have no problems.

Heating coming on with hot water but only on bath tap and shower

Yes. The central heating warms up with the hot water on but only on the bath tap and shower and the water is just warm, not hot. When I run the kitchen tap and tap on the bathroom sink the central heating does not warm up and I get properly hot water. What is RGI?

Heating coming on with hot water but only on bath tap and shower

Hi I thought I had a problem with my shower for a long time but now I've realised it's something to do with the boiler or possibly the pipework. I have a Valliant Ecotec plus 824 VUW GB 246/3-5 located in the kitchen. The kitchen tap which is right next to the boiler supplies hot water with...
