Concealed cistern toilet..what make is this isolation valve and fill valve please?

I disagree with most of the advice above. The existing fill valve is effectively a side-entry type clipped into a slot on the rear cistern wall, fed a by flexi from the internally mounted (and apparently moody) service valve. Probably 3/8" thread, almost certainly obsolete/unobtainable. Either...

Toilet flush not working. Siphon or drop valve?

Syphon/drop valve doesn't matter. All it needs is a syphon washer. What matters more is that your cistern appears to be close-coupled so the cistern has to be seperated from the pan. Sometimes they go back together easily and leak-free, other times you end up having to replace the...

Flexi-hoses - do different qualities exist or are they all pretty much the same?

As above, the ones that fail have usually been contorted/stressed.

Water pressure suddenly low in house after boiler repair

No, you call British Gas again and tell them that following yesterday's "repair" flow rates are well down and could they send someone round to sort it ASAP and obviously at their expence. They're the "experts" and they touched it last!

    Fireplace - Expensive Quote?

DFE so yes, 100cm2 free area required. I reckon the EDF monkey was not qualified on open-flue heaters, noted the visible staining on the rear bricks of the builders opening , decided "safety first", put the wind up the customer and f*cked off. An experienced RGI might well find otherwise. None...

    Fireplace - Expensive Quote?

Before lashing out 3k your neighbour could get an independant gas safety inspection and certificate from another engineer. The EDF bloke may have been overzealous in condemning the fire. He should, in any case, have left paperwork detailing his reasons for so doing.

    Question about pipe layout

It would be informative to cut in a tee with a full-bore valve on the cold mains as it enters the boiler and one on the hot pipe leaving the boiler. Comparing the flow rates on each would help indicate if there's a restriction at the boiler, before or after. Could be something as simple as...

    Question about pipe layout

I would be suspecting blocked or undersized pipework, or a restriction somewhere e.g. a valve not fully open or a choked inlet filter. A more powerful boiler won't help.

Leaking drain cock, bugger to budge

Felt lagging is disconcertingly flammable and apt to smoulder; I'd suggest stripping back and dousing before letting rip with a naked flame.
