    Architrave next to wall

The wall is probably not flat. Technically, you could scribe it but most would rely on filler.

Filling / insulating an alcove behind garage door.

Why not simply take the doors out and brick it up? You should be able to find similar stone to match the house. Adding a largish window would make visual sense with the lintel, and save on stone/brick. My area has loads of 3 bed semis with integrated garages that have been bricked up and have...

    Mac Mini or MacBook?

Many uni lecture rooms and classrooms are not equipped with a mains socket for every seat. Some large lecture theatres built or refurbished in the last decade might be but not many

    Mac Mini or MacBook?

Mac laptop battery life used to be way better than PCs. Don’t know if it is still true, but worth checking. There used to be a massive rush to charge PC laptops at lunchtime and few sockets

    Mac Mini or MacBook?

Most students have laptops. A desktop isn’t really that suitable for uni these days. Unis tend to give 5 or more Tb of online storage to every student and tend to insist on work being saved to the uni system in order to protect it against individual machine failure. If a student’s...

My local council are installing chargers on lamp posts. They are also installing plastic/metal gutters across pavements similar to the gutters that allowed rainwater to cross pavements. In terraced area, they allow roadside charging Quite a few car parks in town and at my workplace have fast...

Just to point out that the estimated £10 million includes all the legal costs - which won’t be cheap.

Can you successfully sand and re-finish parquet floor that is affixed with bitumen?

My floor is 50’s parquet with bitumen ( that’s the DPC) and my guy had no issues sanding . To generate enough heat you’d be wearing away the blocks! They are generally 20-25mm thick. He used Bona products.

Choc blocks behind a light fitting

When I swapped the overhead light in my 1980’s extension for another, the wires were just twisted together and wrapped in tape. Can’t believe that a pro did that?

    Kerfing MDF to bend.

Thanks I can buy bendy MDF - I just need to pack it out to somewhere near 18-22mm so could do it in stages.

    Kerfing MDF to bend.

I am working on my stairs and the bottom step is a bullnose (90° bend) Ideally I would use 18mm MDF as that gives me a spacer of the right size for the upstand. I could use thinner then pack it out. I have access to track saws and a chop saw. How do you determine the area to kerf ? Bend a...

    Recommend me something squidgy..

The foam is 13mm on a scaff tube protector. If you maintain the circular form, and offset it from the actual hard edge then it will cushion to 20/25mm. You’d get scaff foam for £1/1.50 a metre. Being yellow it helps as you might need to add hazard tape to pipe insulation.
