    Extending a Ring Circuit

The reason I was asking about 1 or 2 Wago boxes was that I thought it would be preferable to see the two legs of the ring separated throughout, rather than them merging into a single Wago box. Based on the above, I will use a single Wago box, how do I then decide whether I extend the ring by...

    Extending a Ring Circuit

I’ve got lots of ring circuit cables passing through the loft. I want to cut into one of these to drop down into the bedroom for a new socket. I will check that it’s on the upstairs ring and safely isolate before doing the work. Can I use one wago box and have 2 x 2.5mm T&E coming out of it to...

    Overboarding in landing

I was thinking that if I could rest one end of the batten on the wall, I can do this from below using a multi cutter. Access from the loft will be tricky as it’s boarded…

    Overboarding in landing

Ah, can I just rest the batten on top of that wall with one end screwed to the joist?

    Overboarding in landing

A few timbers going across the joists that I can screw the plasterboard into? I think without this, the plasterboard will sag over time.

    Overboarding in landing

I am planning to overboard my landing ceiling. The section that curves around has a joist running parallel to the wall but around 25 cm away from the wall. I’ve tried to indicate it with a yellow line in the pic. There is no joist next to the wall and hence no fixings can be put in at the end of...

    Blade for Makita MLS 100

I have one of these and it has the original blade. I think it needs to be replaced as it starting to make a sound when cutting. I will be cutting a whole load of skirting and architrave over the next few weeks but will then also be using it for stud and garden panelling type work. Is there a...

    downlights - loft boards

I want to put some downlights in a bedroom but the loft above is boarded with T&G boards. This would be a pain to remove! How do you deal with this situation? Can I poke the cables through the floorboards and run along the surface in conduit or something similar? The loft is rarely used.

    Makita Radio

Had a look for repair outlets nearby and struggling to find one. Also by the time, I factor in postage, parts, labour, etc. probably not worth it for a old radio like this? In terms of new radios, are there any recommendations from anyone?

    Makita Radio

Can I play DAB Radio stations on my phone and Bluetooth to a non-DAB Makita radio? Or am I missing something. Else, it's the Makita MR007 GZ that gives you DAB and Bluetooth but is quite pricey!

    Makita Radio

I take your point. I suspect that it's mainly iPhone music with the occasional radio.

    Makita Radio

Time to move on...Thanks It has been in the shed and weather has been pretty cold. Definitely not damp in there. Would the cold have done it? Hope not, as that's where all my tools are kept. Finally, any recommendations for a new Radio. All my other tools are Makita.

    fixing architrave and skirting

A few questions please: - Would something like Stixall be fine for skirting and architrave? - With the above, will I need any additional mechanical fixings on the skirting boards? - With the wire nails, do I need a certain head size? - Do I need to use anything on the corners of skirting and...

    Architrave and adjustments

If I prize away the beading next to the glass, will the glass be released and removable? Or is there something more complicated that awaits here...

    Architrave and adjustments

I own a Makita MLS 100. It doesn't have the sliding feature but I use that for most of these cuts.

    Makita Radio

This has moved on now... When I put new AA batteries into the back (with no Makita battery), I get this: It does initially display "Power Fail" but I didn't manage to catch that in the above image. "Fail" flashes a few times. Additionally, when I insert a fully charged Makita battery, I get...

    fixing architrave and skirting

I don't own a nailer (working on that...) and wondering what I should use to fix the skirting to the wall and similarly the architrave to the wooden door frame. In the past, I used gripfill and some mechanical fixings with screws and rawlplugs into the wall for the skirting. I then filled the...

    Architrave and adjustments

I still want to get rid of the window pane section above and mount the top architrave on top of the door and not on top of the pane, as it is currently.

    Architrave and adjustments

As above, I am fitting a new style of architrave. In which case, is the use of a recip saw the easiest here? The rough cut will be behind the header architrave if I have understood correctly.
