Could I use something like this There is a hole in the centre so I was thinking to use these 'reverse' pliers to grip from inside and unscrew it.

Unfortunately there is no space to lay the machine on its side. It's a very small laundry room. I think I will need to buy a new part for sure. I was wondering how to pull it out though. Without the cap there is nothing I can grip to unscrew it.
