Hi,

Struggling to remove the filter from a Candy washing machine. The cap of the filter comes out, but it looks like the internal part is stuck in.

I was not able to attach an image, but this is a link to it filter. I have tried to unscrew with two flat screwdrivers inserted in the side gaps and rotating, but it moves only slightly. It might be blocked. The plastic seems to be damaged. The washing machine is from the previous owner and I suspect that they might have tried to do the same.

I am not an expert, so I would like to avoid having to remove the front panel? Could I use some kind of hook? I think it needs to be turned and pulled.

Thanks!

The filler on pump?

Lay machine on its side. Be prepared for some water as you can not drain it.
Remove pipes
Remove power cable.
Remove pump and filter unit.

Then see what you can do or buy a new part. Cheap enough. Easy no skill required job

Unfortunately there is no space to lay the machine on its side. It's a very small laundry room.

I think I will need to buy a new part for sure. I was wondering how to pull it out though. Without the cap there is nothing I can grip to unscrew it.

I prefer to tilt it backwards. This can prevent water running out when you work on the pump and, even more important, prevents water running near the control panel.

You can tilt or push it back into the gap it fits in.

If the cap is already damaged you can manage it as much as you want to get it out. Photos would be helpful. Why can't you add one?

When you fit the new one, lube the cap and seal with white grease and take if off once every five years or more

Could I use something like this

There is a hole in the centre so I was thinking to use these 'reverse' pliers to grip from inside and unscrew it.

I tried to attach a photo, but I get an error. It says that it is too big, but it is only 500kb. Maybe it is because I am new user?

This is a dropbox link to the photo

Tap this icon and upload picture. Not sure what people are doing to struggle with uploads.

As for your problem. The cap screw has broken off leaving the black plastic cage behind.
That's not supposed to happen.

You can see It here. About 1min into video.

Done that. Keep getting this error after the upload is finished.

"Oops! We ran into some problems.
The uploaded image is too big."

The image is just 500kb

Have you got an "attach files " link under the text entry box?

The white cap you hold to unscrew has broken off the filter insert. That's not supposed to happen. Think you need to escalate and get it out somehow.
I think hook and pull it.
Then buy a new one like this.
eBay and Amazon have them.

I bought a new pump and filter housing as one unit for £26.
Probably gone up a bit but still cheap enough.
Those 2 screws in your picture hold the lot on.
Get angry with it Ha. It will come out

I had a similar filter cage break on a Bosch. I ended up gripping the remains with water plump pliers, which are quite big. If it had cracked I would have been able to pull it out in pieces.

I forget the price of the new part, but it seemed quite cheap.

Probably something has worked its way into the pump and is jamming that part in, a screw, hair clip, part of a pencil etc. I'm amazed at the stuff I find in the filter
See if you can wind a couple of screws through the face plastic to give you a handle/something to grip/the ability to turn/wiggle/pull/shake the insert to try and dislodge whatever jammed it
