Bathroom extractor Fan.... Should it run continuously when light is On ?

Thanks for prompt response. No idea how it’s wired and nothing to with me other than my concern about it being left on all night and overheating; also the constant hum when it’s on. I would have thought, extractor fans would have some kind of cut off timer, even when the light remained on.

As subject titles say, should the extractor fan continuously run whilst light is left ON.... could there be a risk of it overheating and maybe cause a fire ? Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

Already got one... was great and necessary when clearing the overgrown grass etc but it creates far too much noise and a lot of faffing about with petrol & oil just to Strim around the edges.

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

Thank you for the very thorough replies in regard to rechargeable batteries. Yeah, my drill batteries probably failed partly due to age; as well as being left dormant for 2 months. Also. similar occurred with cordless hair clippers, not used for months, now won’t charge; where as, my mains...

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

Just to clarify; at the time, my old drill cost £350 new; 12v, not even a hammer drill, came with 2 Batteries and charger, in a moulded case. I’m aware Battery technology has improved since then but don’t won’t to end up in the same predicament, hence my questions. However, if I’ve got to keep...

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

Thanks but I’m not trying to determine how long or how many cuts the Strimmer will perform after a full charge. Trying determine whether the Strimmer will still recharged and operate after being laid up for a few months or throughout winter. My cordless drill stopped charging after not being...

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

I don’t have a need for power tools now, so not practical to buy tools with interchangeable batteries. Only considering the Cordless Strimmer as it appears easier to use without a cable trailing.

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

What does this mean; will Strimmer batteries fail to charge within a couple months of it not being recharged or not ? Has anyone on the forum bought a Battery powered Strimmer and experienced such an issue ? I don’t fancy buying one now, use it maybe twice over the next couple of months; then...

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

In regard to battery powered garden Strimmers; I’m wondering whether, if not used/recharged for maybe a couple of months, do they fail to recharge all together ? A few years ago, an expensive cordless drill which was used and recharged on a daily basis; once laid up for a couple of months, both...

Wood Stain or Paint for exterior Plywood Veneer Door ?

I intended to apply a One Coat type exterior satin wood paint. Although, because the garage side door faces strong sun light all day; it’s been suggested I should use a white wood stain ? The door is supplied un-primed.

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

ANOTHER UPDATE..... Since the Burner and Valve was replaced on the 17th March 20, my Father has used the Fire on a regular basis and without the odour of gas ever occurring. Yeah, he still has the habit of turning the control knob in between heat settings but now, the very slightest turn...

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

My Fathers current gas fire was only fitted during the end of October 2019 The old fire of an identical make and model, was used for over 10 years and we never encountered the smell of gas during its use; it’s because of this, why I believe it’s a fault rather than how my Father is using it...

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

Update..... Glen Dimplex approved engineer has inspected fire and within minutes, was able to re create the issue experienced by my Father and we could smell gas. Not actually pinpointed a leak but he believes the burner is either cracked or leaking; so it will be replaced under warranty. Will...

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

I’m not keep asking questions; I’m responding to the post from forum members who have been good enough to offer their thoughts and opinions. When I’ve repeated what I’ve already said, it’s not because I keep asking the same question; it’s because I’m attempting to stress my concerns in response...

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

There is only a very faint odour of gas when the pilot light is being lit, which I believe is of a normal and acceptable level, which disperses quickly and, can only be detected when very close to the fire whilst looking for a gas leak. When I arrived yesterday, the smell of gas was...

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

Ok thanks; I’m sorry I keep reiterating but I’m kind of answering individual post rather then responding to the thread; I’ll remember not to mention it again and I’ll just await the results of the manufactures inspection.

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

I disagree, in all my years of operating Gas fires and even explaining how to operate a gas fire to children, as well as teenage children being left to use a gas fire with a rotary control by theirselves; I’ve never come home to a house which smells of gas.

Should gas fire allow unlit gas through when it’s in between heat settings ?

As the pipes which feed gas into the base of the fire are clearly visible, I’ve applied leak detection foam to them, which revealed nothing. As the fire is relatively new and as I’m not a gas installer, I’d rather not attempt to investigate the control valve further. However, the smell of gas...
