    I recently too out the load bearing wall between my kitchen and dining room. My BC guy advised my steel size and inspected it before fire boarding and plastering. Was very helpful.

    Thanks for replying. The internals are scribed yes. They aren't fixed to the walls yet but I'm just not 100% happy.... It's my first go at skirting :)

    Travis Perkins will sell to anyone, I have a cash account plus if you go in a lot and buy stuff they will give you better pricing too. Looks relatively recent build so getting matching bricks should be ok.

    As JohnW2 said, there is a chance there is a connection plate under the work top sunk into the wall. Should be fairly obvious. Don't poke around until the supply is off !

    Just out of interest if it wasnt rendered would it make a difference ? The whole house is pebbledash but it will all be being knocked off and plain rendered if I get my way. You cn see on the right hand side the dashing has been badly patched in the past by a previous owner.
